Because after SCARY MOVIE (which wasn't that bad) made tons of money, the floodgates were wide open and idiots kept going to see movies like Disaster Movie and Epic Movie (all made by the same team). In short, they're profitable.
I have a friend who worked on SCARY MOVIE 2 and according to him the script is more of a premise than a script. Sure there are jokes, gags, and preset stunts, but most of the film was improv, which isn't surprising. The writers and the directors are the same two guys and they are very hands on. And to say they work in a laid back atmosphere would be putting it lightly.
What was the last movie you've seen?

I feel like it really should have been two movies; the pacing would have been much improved.Jagosaurus wrote:Just saw Enders Game & quite liked it. If you can red box it for a buck & are interested in a fun sci fi movie, check it out.
I thought Scary Movie was pretty weak but as you mentioned it did to well. Not Another Teen Movie actually was pretty well done, in my opinion; the jokes were of good quality and they didn't rely on some of the lower brow humor that Scary Movie did.Because after SCARY MOVIE (which wasn't that bad) made tons of money, the floodgates were wide open and idiots kept going to see movies like Disaster Movie and Epic Movie (all made by the same team). Of course not, but they're all people who need a paycheck.RCBH928 wrote:Given how much and many people go into making a movie, I will never understand why would some one work on movies like this. When you think about the director, writers, cameramen, actors, investors, producers..etc etc , were they all convinced this was a good idea?

It's their job, not their hobby, they're going to do whatever they need to eat and support their families.

they won't be having any more jobs in this industry if they keep doing low grade work of this type. I would imagine its the same in the game world, if you were part of a team that worked on a really bad game (Superman 64?) what are the odds you will be sought after by other employers? Would you mention it in your resume?Jrecee wrote:Of course not, but they're all people who need a paycheck.RCBH928 wrote:Given how much and many people go into making a movie, I will never understand why would some one work on movies like this. Scary Movie is almost 15 years old, the fad must be dying by now.

$$$= Jobs.
Spoofs aren't a fad.

Renowned cinematographer Janusz Kamiński worked on the Vanilla Ice vehicle Cool as Ice (and a lot of other crap) in 1991. Two years later he was in Poland shooting Schindler's List for Stephen Spielberg.RCBH928 wrote:they won't be having any more jobs in this industry if they keep doing low grade work of this type. You are right in that certain people involved in these films will have a hard time finding work, IF those movies don't make money. But the majority of people who work on a film are not involved in a creative capacity. They will be hired regardless. Nobody cares if Xmen 3 was crap, Hugh Jackman's stunt double will keep getting work.

was on a 90's marathon, right? Demolition Man, etc...finally saw Darkman 1, and it's fun but doesn't age terribly well, haha.
