I seem to be having a hard time with the control layout on my PS3 controller - using the analog sticks, my weapons will cycle to an empty slot or go to my ranged weapon in the middle of boss battles, effectively killing me each time. This happens because of the way the L3 button is mapped to your weapon/shield selections and is really starting to piss me off. The same thing seems to happen with the L1/L2 buttons, which is the difference between a parry and a block (HUGE difference) and also results in me leaving myself open and dying. I can't find any way to alter the controls and it makes an already challenging game much harder than intended. Anyone else having problems like this? It really makes me wish I had bought the 360 version.

L3 is the jump button, not sure how it's cycling your weapons. As for L1/L2, I keep my index fingers on L1/R1 and my middle fingers curled behind the controller and I only bring them out when I want to specifically hit L2/R2 (which rarely happens).

The left analogue stick doesn't cycle weapons. I actually experienced the exact phenomenon you're mentioning in Dark Souls 1, and it was because my Playstation controller was starting to die and wasn't reading inputs properly. Perhaps that's the issue?

Try holding L3 down and then circling it - it highlights all your equipment slots and can change them. It's really fucking me over. Not sure if my controller is just a mess or not.

I'm getting really annoyed with all the server issues.... I have been trying to beat a boss and it'd be nice if the server didn't keep timing out when trying to summon. I could use the help.

I was going to pick this game up next week, but maybe I'll hold off until they release the first patch and get the server issues sorted out. I recall Dark Souls 1 having issues like this for the original JPN launch.

I've been playing DS1 in preparation after a LONG absence and have really been enjoying it. Went with a dex built (once again) but this time I'm using a +15 Great Scythe. Still need to finish the achievements too.

Came out last night. I haven't experienced anything in the way of server issues.

Picked this up today myself and yeah it's amazing. Feels like Demon's and Dark had a perfect child. The environments, the main town, and fast travel all make it feel a little more like Demon's to me, which isn't a bad thing. Dark got really complex to get around when you got far, even with the weird shortcuts. So... I'm definitely glad this has fast travel. I thought it'd maybe be tacky or not really fit, but it's integrated really well. Major plus on the improved engine and constant famerate too.

My only issue so far is that the hit detection seems a little wonky with curved swords. Not sure what's up with that.

Well, I beat the game this morning after about 60 hours, and I'm a bit disappointed with the final few bosses. They all follow a similar pattern and none were difficult to beat, including the final boss. I can't help but feel that the game suffers from being a little too easy in comparison to the previous games, but maybe that has to do with it being "more accessible". Either way, this one is probably the weakest of the trilogy in my book, though still a good game.

To be fair though, asking any sequel to live up to Dark Souls is a tall order, considering the game is a masterpiece. The characters, bosses, and level design/layout in that game are fantastic, and I found that Dark Souls II fell a little short in comparison.
