Today I fired up a few games, new and old.

Noise first inspired me to get a character leveled up. Played around with my FOnewm and killed De Rol Le and Vol Opt. Forgot that you have to go back through the whole thing when you're activating the pillars.

Then I fired up Silver. The UI on it is somewhat small for my tastes. I might fire it up on the VGA to see if that sharpens things up. I like the artistic style--it has the pre-rendered background similar to the Final Fantasy RPGs of PS1 era. Combat is fun too.

Last, I finished with Tokyo Xtreme Racer. It's a pretty fun way to racing, though the initial Quest Mode involves some grinding to upgrade your car.

Playing some DC w/the kids tonight. Crazy Taxi 2 first - but no patience from the group playing solo runs, so off to some multiplayer stuff.

Trickstyle doesn't support VGA so we quickly moved on to Toy Commander. The kids really like the multi-player and it's considerably tamer than the vs FPS stuff on current gen w/o sacrificing graphics - so they'll prob stick with it for awhile. We have NFL Blitz on tap next. I'll probably go put in some runs on Bakraid while they're enjoying TC for now.

@Blu & Mike: Awesome!

I stopped at Saver's after work and found a monitor I think might work well for DC:

17" and has built in speaker, which cool cuz my VGA box has 2 speaker-outs so I can use this one plus a set of speakers together. I've long had this dream of getting at least a makeshift standing "cab-style" set up going for arcade stuff...

^looks cool - what AV outs does it have?

We moved away from Toy Commander and got pulled in by Rippin Riders. Man, what a cool game - really wish this had online. I'd love to crush y'alls screens. That vs. mode is legit.

The course designs are really cool too - it took awhile to adjust, I kept trying to Tony Hawk it, but the moves are quite different, particularly not being able to steer when you are in a crouch.

It was quite entertaining - my youngest son was actually the best, he was able to do 1-2K combos at will and was dominating score comps and vs. mode. Really odd as he's usually not that good at games - it's the older one Aidric who's usually a natural.

I think it's pretty challenging for me to play Rippin' Riders and be good at it. I think I also come about it like a Cool Boarders / Tony Hawk strategy.

And Toy Commander is quite cool -- I spent a good while a few weeks ago playing through some of the missions.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Rippin Riders. That and DOA2 are the most co-op'd DC games in my household.

This monitor just has a 1/8th inch out - like a headphone jack. But that's fine. The VGA box I has has 2 inputs of those, so you can actually have 2 sets of speakers on it.

I set this up in my game room:

Totally not the prettiest thing in the world, but I was using an old PC desk and some stuff I had around to set it up. It's a place-keeper for now of the DC cab I *dream* of. But hey, it's serving it's purpose. I'm playing Garou standing up in front of a VGA CRT y'know?

Also, I popped in Redux - it actually looks pretty good via VGA. I was surprised.

Ohhh I was wondering what "Rippin Riders" was. Turns out it was called Snow Surfers in Europe. I hadn't heard of it. Might have to check it out, as I used to love me some snowboarding games.
