Is Enemy Within a "definitive" or refined version of Enemy Unknown or is it more of a sequel/expansion pack? That is should I buy just Enemy Within or both Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within?noiseredux wrote:@Sload: Enemy Unknown really is amazing. One of my favorite games of the 360/PS3 generation. It's a DLC, that is essentially like its own game. It's about as long as Enemy Unknown is. It's like a sequel/expansion.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Is Enemy Within a "definitive" or refined version of Enemy Unknown or is it more of a sequel/expansion pack? A good way to look at it is like a Civ game vs. a Civ expansion.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Is Enemy Within a "definitive" or refined version of Enemy Unknown or is it more of a sequel/expansion pack? Yeah, I have been having a hard time labeling the correct system as of late.alienjesus wrote:For what it's worth, all the 8 bit games on Sonic Gems collection are Game Gear versions. Triple Trouble was never on Master System as far as I know.Luke wrote:
Great looking game, great controls, terrible, terrible level design. There's not a lot of running to the right in this game, which slows it down to a slugs pace at times. At times I threw my hands up asking "Where am I supposed to go?", which doesn't happen often in Sonic game, but happens a lot with Triple Trouble.
Other than that, it's pretty easy as the game is very generous with extra lives and continues.
I love the SMS Sonic the Hedgehog and enjoy the SMS Sonic 2 aswell, but the Game Gear games are awful due to how zoomed in they are.
I thought Triple Trouble looked astonishingly good for a game gear game blown up on a CRT.

So...I should get both then? Or, is the content in Enemy Unknown included in a retail copy of Enemy Within?Violent By Design wrote:It's a DLC, that is essentially like its own game. It's about as long as Enemy Unknown is. It's like a sequel/expansion.
Sadly - and somehat embarrassingly - I have never played a Civ game or a Civ expansion...Stark wrote:A good way to look at it is like a Civ game vs. a Civ expansion.
Re: Games Beaten 2014
Well like those games, on the PC anyway, the expansion enhances the main game in someway, adds units, changes underlying game mechanics, but the overall campaign arc is very similar. On the PC version you buy the base game and you buy the DLC and when you load it up you can choose which to play.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Sadly - and somehat embarrassingly - I have never played a Civ game or a Civ expansion...Stark wrote:A good way to look at it is like a Civ game vs. a Civ expansion.
On the console version, Enemy Within is standalone and I don't know if you can choose to play the original campaign or not.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
I would be buying it for the PS3, and if the retail version of Enemy Within includes all of the content in Enemy Unknown plus bonus content (like an "ultimate" edition or "game of the year" edition), then I would just get Enemy Within.Stark wrote:On the console version, Enemy Within is standalone and I don't know if you can choose to play the original campaign or not.
That is, I need to know whether Enemy Within (PS3) is more like Dragon Age: Origins Awakening (PS3) or Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition (PS3)?

South Park: The Stick of Truth - PC
As an RPG, the game is pretty easy (It plays similar to, even on the hardest mode and can be somewhat repetitive, however the whole reason to play the game is the constant references to the show, it is like a big love letter to long term fans of the show while also going further than the show went on some topics.
SNK Gals' Fighters - NGPC (Via Emulation)
The Queen of Fighters! I actually love this game. It is a dream match of female characters from SNK games. It looks and plays similar to other SNK fighters on the system, however it has 2 awesome advantages. 1. is that the speed of the game is nice and fast and you can increase it even further if you decide to and 2. the game is just a parody of itself, it knows it is goofy and it is jsut fun.
Grand Theft Auto V - PS3
I have never been much of a fan of GTA, however this is not only the best sandbox games I have ever played, it sky rockets to being one of the best games I have ever played. Lots of the frustration to do with the mission restarts (they now have mid mission checkpoints) and dodgy shooting mechanics (now featuring a well done lock on system) make this enjoyable to play over other games in the series.
No point going into it much as so much is written about, but have to say how much this game takes from Kane & Lynch in both it character design, personalities and even the 'vibe', not a bad think as I loved Kane and Lynch.

here's what I said about it prior:prfsnl_gmr wrote: Is Enemy Within a "definitive" or refined version of Enemy Unknown or is it more of a sequel/expansion pack? That is should I buy just Enemy Within or both Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within?
Enemy Within is so much more than just some new maps and missions. It is an entirely new experience encompassing new maps, enemies, weapons, upgrades - and perhaps most import - mechanics. Indeed the additions of Bio- or Mecha- research for your own troops strips your squad of their earthly limitations while new human EXALT enemies pose a different kind of threat than EU had delivered. Add to this new covert missions and base defense missions which further add variety to even the sorts of missions you might encounter. Not to mention the addition of MELD which virtually turns the “slow and safe” approach to taking turns on its head and instead pushes you to march ahead with oftentimes poorly judged urgency. In a sense, calling Enemy Within “just an expansion” is doing it a huge injustice. It is far closer to an entirely new game built on EU’s engine than just a batch of DLC to expand upon the original, and I’d urge anyone who played Unknown to be sure they’ve experienced Within.
