I've had Egg Lemon sauce - it is delicious. I've only every had it as a topping on chicken or fish, though.
Reading the article would confirm:
Soup
As a soup, it usually starts with chicken broth, though meat (usually lamb), fish, or vegetable broths are also used. Typically, rice, orzo, pastina, or tapioca[5] are cooked in the broth before the mixture of eggs and lemon is added. Its consistency varies from near-stew to near-broth. It is often served with pieces of the meat and vegetables reserved from the broth.

I don't think I've ever paid more than $1.39 a lb. for a chicken, which I think is expensive. Don't think I've even paid $2.00 a lb. for a capon for that matter.
Do you guys check the circulars before shopping?
Smile: Getting in bed early tonight with hopes my dog won't wake me up to go to the bathroom at 2am, 3:40 am, and 6:30am like she did last morning. It wouldn't be that bad if I didn't have to carry all sixty-five pounds of her up and down the stairs each time. But at least she wakes me up and doesn't ruin the carpet.
Frown: Hooked up the Wii to do some Wiiware shopping, and of course I'm out of batteries.

The article is wrong. I've eaten at many a restaurant in Chicago's Greektown. They never put in veggies and only rarely is meat added.mjmjr25 wrote:I've had Egg Lemon sauce - it is delicious. I've only every had it as a topping on chicken or fish, though.

My deli gives away sample slices for free as long as they're cutting more.
Getting a specific number of slices at whatever thickness is no problem. Even hand cut chunks isn't an issue.

One more reason I may order pizza once a year, and that's only because I have friends over who want it*. I know a lot of people who love almost any type of pizza, even Little Caesars and frozen pizzas. Whatever suits your palette. But the chain store pizzas do nothing for me, and are incredibly, no! Ridiculously overpriced and underwhelming.
My parents live in a town that has a great local pizzeria, but the only local pizzeria we have is NY style, and tastes okay when piping hot and like cardboard the next day.
And here is my beef:
The last pizza I ordered was a Manager's Special, which was a one topping medium for $9.99. How much do you think the actual total was after tax, delivery fees, and tip? Guess first.
And some people (the delivery guy) stand by $3.00 is the bare minimum. Other people (the delivery guy again) say %20 (which is more than most people tip their waiter) is the bare minimum.
Nuts to that. Get to my house on time with a hot pizza, that is also the pizza I ordered, and I will tip you well. And I don't care about the total, or amount of pizzas I want delivered. 1) The more I order, the more I'm helping out the company. 2) You're coming to my house anyway. If I order one or three pizzas the deliverer still has the same job: Get me my pizza. Of course, if I ordered a McAllister amount of pizzas I'd leave a bigger tip.
So there. Forget these websites that tell you what to tip the driver. If the pizza is cold, late, or not what you ordered, no tip and tell 'em why.
*This is a tactic I use when someone wants to drive after having too much. After a few slices they're usually passed out on the couch.

Luke you need to hit up Anticos next time you are in Atlanta. At Festa Della Pizza in 2010, Anticos was stated to be the best pizza in the USA. They do not do special orders, they are open until they run out of dough, and it will cost you $20ish per pizza. But the pizza is beyond artisan.

Will do. Love the "We're out of food" sorry philosophy. We have a bbq joint called B's BBQ that does the same, and they usually close near noon (if not earlier).fastbilly1 wrote:Luke you need to hit up Anticos next time you are in Atlanta. I don't want to come across like a New Yorker that says "Only NY pizza is good", but damned if I hadn't eaten some of the best pizza Chicago has to offer (and not just deep dish). Joe's on Milwaukee charges about $7.00 a pie, no delivery fee. And then there is http://www.piecechicago.com/ I was at piece when the Blackhawks won a Stanley Cup Playoff game and I've never seen such a united crowd since the million man march.
I know ordering pizza is a convenience thing, but making pizza is so cheap and easy (fun at that too) that I wonder why more people don't cook their own pies.
I've had some "artisan" pizzas from places in Raleigh, but for almost twenty bucks a pie, totally not worth it. And I believe I've told my Mellow Mushroom fly-in-the parmesan story.
Sometimes if you want things done right...
Frown: Doesn't look like I'll be beating Battletoads today. Damn snow level.
Smile: It's time to decorate the house for Saint Patrick's Day. Can't wait for Monday. Already have some records picked out, as well as some of my favorite Irish fol cd's. Which reminds me, I need to pick up ingredients for Irish coffee.
