I think Rakugaki Showtime is a lot of fun.

It's an arena brawler by Treasure of all developers.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Yeah, you're an anime lawyer that yells "Objection!" a lot.

I've always liked Heavy Metal Geomatrix.

On that note me and my friends played an ungodly amount of Spawn: In the Demon's Hand back in t'day. Spawn isn't a single screener though.

Poy Poy and its sequel got a lot of love as well. Would any of the Worms games count?

There's an excellent browser game called Starwhal that has a demo here: http://www.starwhal.com/

SMH I dunno how I forgot Poy Poy 1&2, my god did I drop so many hours of my life into playing that on the ol' multitap with a pile of friends.

Good call whoever mentioned that. Super solid "arena brawler", probably the best for the PS1 era.

If Poy Poy is on the table, Keriotosse for the Saturn is a good alternative.

The Power Stone games will always be at the top of my list for brawlers. Destrega on the PS1 was pretty good too.
