Lack of gaming friends?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My wife sometimes plays Puzzle Fighter with me or button mashes some Street Fighter. I play co-op Tengen Tetris with my mum if she's ever in town. My son's too little to hold a gamepad, but we're working on it. I have a friend from work who's also an old university friend who isn't really a gamer per se, but he had a SNES with Sunset Riders as a kid so I showed him the arcade version on MAME and since we've occasionally played that or other co-op games at mine.

My mother in law, who is at our place a lot, is really OCD about hygiene so generally non family members can't come over.

In the mall near my place they once held a kind of Famicom competition. I won the Super Mario event, and turns out the guy who won the Contra event lives in my apartment block and also has a young kid, so we hang out occasionally.

Not all of them are as into gaming as me, some are, but most only really care about modern games. There are a few that share my passion for games of all kinds, though. Most of those I met online.

When it comes to friends that are into retro gaming, I really don't have any besides a buddy that loves Gamecube like me. Other than that, there aren't that many. In gaming friends in general, I've lost quite a few over the last couple years because they quit gaming. I used to run marathon all nighters on Halo and COD and such when I was still a bit of a bro gamer with some of the guys from school, but most of them have moved on.

I have one group of Australian people I play with that I know through the internet, but other than that I'm pretty much solo nowadays.

Something positive should come from this experience. Perhaps this thread can be turned in to some sort of "Hey man, let's have a quick game of XX online" thread for all sorts of games and systems that support online.

Let's do something positive instead of just moaning about how lonely we all are, haha!

I say we do the opposite and I start talking about how long it's been since I've talked to a girl.

I essentially have no gaming friends, and it's a shame because I have some great multiplayer games like SSBM, power stone 2, NFL blitz 2000, dynamite cop and so on...however me and my pals do enjoy games of FIFA and NHL here and there

I think I have too many, it's tough getting a crowd out to go grab a beer or something haha. Guess I'm the guy who likes some middle ground and balance.

Lets not, we can dump that in another thread.

Same here. The only gaming buds I have are family members. My brothers and cousins are the only ones I will ever play Genesis, Saturn, DC, or 360 with. The rest of my "friends" are just typical buds you meet online.

If anyone in Memphis, TN has a retro game room/center and needs a buddy to play with, hit me up. I will bring my modded Saturn with a bunch of games, DC, or Genesis. I would invite you, but I got a tiny retro station in my bedroom. Since I will be invading you space, I will buy the 6 pack.
