I would consider Soma Bringer a must have. This a JRPG made by Monolith Soft, the same developer of the critically lauded Xenoblade. Soma Bringer is just an amazing action-RPG, huge world, fantastic graphics, awesome OST. And yes there is an English translation available if you scour the internet.

I don't know much about this game other than it's from Monolith Soft and there's a translation patch for it. I'd need a flash cart for it though and I have no idea what's the best one out there ATM and which ones do and don't work on a 3DS. I'd also use it to play the in progress Ace Attorney Investigations 2 translation.

I can't read Japanese either, so I had to play the patched ROM on a flashcart because of that. Had the game gotten an official localization and release I would have bought it, no question. I think Soma Bringer is an awesome action RPG, and worth the hassle of whatever it takes to play it.

I use emulators all the time and I could always emulate it I know, but I really don't like emulating DS games. It just doesn't work for me when I've got two small screens on my TV and it's barely taking up 1/3 of the available space. Haha.

I'll have to research some flash carts and grab one someday.

Soma Bringer definitely looks like my type of game - I hope someday we can do away with these localized releases and allow every game to be released world-wide. Of course, with gaming going more and more digital, this could very well end up happening...

The issue is more with not everyone speaking the same language. Good translation is expensive, and it can be even more expensive to implement if the code wasn't written with localization in mind. The Mother 3 Translation Blog really gives a great look into the nitty gritty challenges and solutions in a translation project.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is pretty good... Don't know how it compares to the other FF Tactics games (haven't played them) but I really enjoy it :)

There's also Avalon Code but that seems to be a hit or miss for some... It's difficulty probably doesn't help haha. I just really like it because you get to smack people into outer space :D
(and the box art is amazing~)

Just in case you were not aware, DeSmuME has the ability to increase the screen size of both emulated screens to be as screen filling as you like. You can certainly blow a DSi XL out of the water scale wise! Also, DeSmuME supports USB gamepads and Soma Bringer doesn't require touch screen input. Really, it wouldn't be a bad way to play the game.

Alternatively playing the game on a flashcard is cheap and easy as pie, but I don't know this board's policy on discussing such things.

It's the loot dropping and customization of Diablo combined with the action-RPG party mechanics of Secret Of Mana. I loved it.

TBH I never messed around with it for too long, but all I remember being able to do was orient the screens either vertically or horizontally, as well as being able to display one screen at a time. Granted this was probably two years or so ago so maybe there's alot more things to play around with.

Just tried DeSmuME out for the first time resizing the screen took about 10 seconds just had to open up the config file and input the new number for width and height. Surprised by how easy DeSmuME will definately be using this to play through some of the DS titles I have :). This will be great if I ever want to do DS reviews it's one of the only consoles I have that you can't really record on using the factory hardware.

Might just play through Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier on it. Picked up a physical copy at gamestop the other day for cheap and am really stoked to get into it.
