Is your desktop set to autoarrange? It could be that primary monitor is getting changed as part of big picture, and then autoarrange kicks in and puts your icons on your primary monitor. There might also be something interesting happening when you turn off your TV while your monitor is still on, or vise versa, that's causing Windows to try and rearrange things so icons aren't lost.

Never even knew about that haha, but no autoarrange is off.

Guess it could just be funky since as you said, I'm turning my TV on and off, switching between inputs, etc often so it might just be a weird thing.

That's probably what's going on. Windows needs to handle you deciding you no longer want to run two monitors and not hide all your icons, and the multimon display code is pretty fragile.

I thought to myself "Maybe I should play some Dark Souls and see if I can get into it" since the second one is coming out next month on PC. So I launch it, spend 30 minutes fucking with GFWL, get through the prologue movie and BAM Darksouls.exe has stopped working. Installed DSFix and didn't work. Removed DSFix and didn't work.

I love gaming on my PC, except all the times that I don't.

This is a rare example of a game that is an infuriatingly bad port though. Guess I'm not playing it today.

I had a similar moment last night trying to get Thief working. Something to do with Square Enix's registration... I couldn't even get to the main menu and it crashed 2-3 times but I finally got through and it's working now.

But yeah... one of those reminders that I always prefer consoles.
