I find all the Souls games are ones that you kinda have to stick with once you've started - there is a definite drop in skill and overall player awareness if you take an extended break. The games are just so fun though, so I never really have that problem (I also hate not finishing a game I've started). One of the highlights of the series has definitely been the bosses, they're all just so damn cool.Xeogred wrote:I'm stoked but I never finished Dark Souls, so I'm also not sure what I want to do. I got really far, but I just know that's not a game you can simply jump back into after being away from it forever. lol
Demon's was more replayable for me. Dark is a bit more daunting to approach again, but maybe I should just start over.

You shouldn't have to play the first Dark Souls, but if you feel like it may as well start from the beginning. I haven't finished Dark Souls myself but I'm gonna start playing II anyways.Xeogred wrote:I'm stoked but I never finished Dark Souls, so I'm also not sure what I want to do. If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I don't know how you guys aren't finishing the game. When ever I sat down with it I would put things on hold and play it until my index finer hurt (index on the run button thumb on the stick to adjust camera)
It is a game you can just load up for 20 minutes and get things accomplished like grinding souls for a level or two or go make some progress towards a boss in that time or you can spend hours doing the same things.
The part I get screwed over on is having an idea for a build and going for that but I'll end up having no clue how to play until I can use that build. I end up getting my ass kicked and giving up on my build and going full on giant dad tank.

I think my only complaint is the lack of music in these games. It is fitting, but...yeah. I can picture Castlevania music fitting everywhere in Dark, haha.
Otherwise, it's pretty much perfection. I'm not sure why I didn't finish it myself.

It looks like reviews are up. Someone go read some for me and tell me if they are positive. I'm afraid of spoilers and of the reviews being bad. If they're bad just don't tell me.
Re: Dark Souls II Announced
I skimmed IGN's (of all people haha), and it sounds amazing.
No spoilers here:
- It's still hard
- The improved engine is awesome and the framerate is completely consistent
- Game is massive, guy had 60 some hours on it or something
- An interesting tidbit was that they mention the levels feel more detached, even if it's still a big seamless world. Like the levels are more broken up and doesn't feel as natural/logical as Dark Souls' design did, or something. To me, this actually sounds neat, because it sounds like maybe it'll feel like a merger of Demon's and Dark (since Demon's was hub based with really different locations for the levels). Very interested.
Sounds incredible.

BAH! Amazon wasn't able to ship out the game pre-release and now it won't arrive until Thursday. Angry table flipping begins now.

Re: Dark Souls II Announced
I'm a bit surprised, but this game feels harder than the other two. It might be because I've been away from the series for a while, but I don't remember dying this much after just starting the game. Gonna keep plugging away though!
