Well, if you have an Android phone you could try Winulator.

Starcraft 2 is amazing! I can honestly say I've dumped over 5000 hours into that game without exaggerating. In my mind, there is no better RTS game. I haven't played in almost six months though, as it was sucking the life out of me, but I have tons of very awesome memories of playing. Give it a shot if you like the original and want the next step in the series.

I fixed a Dreamcast controller earlier today. It gave me a chance to open up one of those bad boys. While I had it opened, I noticed that the cable is attached via a connector as opposed to being soldered directly to the PCB.

What do you guys think about the potential for new RTS games on touch screen, especially tablets? What about ports of PC games?

The PS Vita's buttons/double touch interface could also offers some interesting possibilities, though screen real estate is lacking in comparison.

I got Civ 3 and Civ 4 which I got from The Humble Bundle and I can also buy Civ 5. The problem with RTS's they look like they play the same most of the time with updated graphics. So its confusing if I should play all 3 or 1 of them will give me the same experience as the previous 2.

Another example is Starcraft. The first game must be one of the most praised games in computer videogames history I believe they still play tournaments with the original version. The sequel is also highly praised, does it make sense to play both?

Absolutely, they're both fantastic games. Does it make sense not to play both?

I've liked some that I've tried, like Plants versus Zombies (sorta counts I guess) - however, I think tournament level play is heavy on keyboard shortcuts to up actions per minute, which may not lend itself to touch.

In general I think it'd be one of the more promising genres to make touch control versions of though, at least for more casual play.

They're different games, and they also have different campaigns so yeah.

I tried playing the Red Alert 3 game made for touch screens and it was super painful. It would have been ok with a mouse or a some hard keys for commands, but the entire situation. I think Turn Based Strategy would be the perfect genre for touchscreens. A Civ game for your phone, now thats a scary thought.
