As a guy who as recently as 2 years ago raved and recommended Agetecs - I can't any longer.
I still stand by that it is the best stock first party stick of the N64 / PS1 / DC / Jaguar generation. Legit stick, decent buttons, excellent size, simple and clean aesthetics.
However, they don't hold up well beyond the size and weight are still great. Sticks get sloppy and buttons mush / unresponsive. Compared to last gen and current gen sticks - we are spoiled with how easy it is to swap parts. Swapping a bad button on an agetec is not easy - you have to disassemble the entire PCB which is direct soldered as one piece to all 6 buttons.
A cheap HORI PS2 stick or other newer stick w/lagless converter, or a custom pad-hacked or MCC stick w/DC input is most definitely the way to go.
How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?

I hear you.
I actually do have a PS2/DC converter, but I don't like using my faux-HRAP as much as I like using the Agetec. For comfort I prefer the Agetec. Of course my "HRAP" is the Tekken 5 which using Hori buttons/stick rather than Sanwa, so there's that. I think the Agetec is better than stock Hori parts.
And of course you know my hang-up of really liking to use "matching" accessories rather than using adapters when I can. With that in mind, I could see myself upgrading the Agetec to one of those nice sticks... uh, basically it's the JPN Virtua Stick but it has the Sat/DC converter inside it and they just put a "Dreamcast" logo over the "Saturn" logo?
Those are a bit pricier though eh? But they're probably closer in size/weight to an HRAP?
There's also the Ascii stick which I've heard great things about, but it doesn't *look* to me like it would be that much of an improvement in quality. At least not enough to make me want to spend what they seem to go for lately.

Do you guys think they will ever reproduce the ASCII DC pads or something similar? I want 2 of them, but just can't spend 100 bucks on them.
I've been doing all my fighter gaming on the SS lately, but want to get into MvC and stuff so I can play with my bros.

I don't know... a couple bucks? A lot of this stuff has been in lots, so it's tough to say how much each item was. Y'know?
