Re: RPG Progress Report
I average 6-7 hours a day on FFXIV. Which I've been playing since a few days before Christmas.
not really proud, but I'm having fun.

Re: RPG Progress Report
And my usual update.
Hit year 5, month 10 on Totori. The game ends at Year 6 month 6, so I've not got long left. I've completed the main plotline now, so its just a case of doing stuff I fancy doing. My plans are to finish a pair of sidequests that give me trophies in game, and then see what optional bosses I can stumble across to finish up.
Today I beat the 'final' boss of the game, the last part of the main plotline. It's compeltely optional. I was woefully unprepared, but I managed to pull through with some weak healing items and using specials during a long battle of attrition. I finished with 1 character dead, 1 at 1 hp and Totori with a little more, but within one hit of death. My team was Totori level 40, Sterk level 39 and Mimi level 37.
I also stumbled across the traditional JRPG fan service in the form of a swimsuit contest. Not unexpected.
After I finish the game, I might keep going and get some of the alternate endings I'm more set up for - I could certainly get Mimi, Sterk, Gino, Rorona and Melvia's endings without too much trouble. The true ending, chim ending, Marc's ending and the rich ending are all beyond what I'm capable of with my end game save probably though. I'll load up an earlier file another time to attempt some of those. The True ending probably requires another full run through the game.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Double post alert!
So yesterday I beat Atelier Totori plus and saw half of the ending.
After the credits rolled, a cutscene started. 15 seconds in...
'PS Vita has encountered a serious error and will shut down shortly'.
Fuck.
I lost the last 3 months of progress too, although I didn't do anything exciting in them, so I'll probably just sleep through to the ending again tonight and hopefully see it all tonight.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I'm liking FFXII a bit more now that I've started playing it as a semi-open world RPG. I'm still not very far, Jahara, but its appeal is growing.
Still find it a bit odd that you can unlock licenses for magic, but you still have to go and buy it. It's fair though, because you can teleport back to major towns fairly easily.
The other issue I have is with the weaponry. It seems that anyone can do anything if I so choose, but it also seems some people have an affinity with certain types of weapon: Vaan with swords, Basch likes an axe, Balthier has guns. Penelo and Ashe, I can't get a grip on. Eh, I'll check a guide.
The game isn't drawing me in like FF9 did though. I play for three hours max and then shut it off. I do keep returning though.

Actually, I seem to remember reading that Balthier is the worst gun user in the game (his shooting animation is longest) and Fran the worst Archer (for the same reason).
The difference is pretty minor though. Most characters can use whatever they want pretty well. The base stats of the characters will affect things a bit though - higher MP characters will get a bit more power from staves and rods, fast characters from knives and ninja swords etc.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I've gotten a little farther in Breath of Fire II and have been sent by a giant frog to a tower to convince a witch to change him back to his original form. My town is starting to develop, and I have picked an architect, the one in the "normal" house. Beyond that, I've just been leveling up. I am getting pretty annoyed with the encounter rate, as there are times where every three steps puts me into another fight. That's great, and I appreciate the xp, but I just want to open a treasure chest! It's right there!
So yeah, with the massive numbers of fights, I'm starting to see why folks use the Auto battle feature. I've made it a point to not use Auto battle commands in games, but this is getting more and more annoying.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Ive been rolling along in OB64. Wanted to keep the story and feeling from MotBQ going into the sequel. I am about 9 battles in.
The scope of the battles are different and smaller. I forget some of these subtle differences after having not played in awhile. I also now remember hate chasing enemy units around after I kill their leader. I prefer how they head back to base and resurrect in MotBQ.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Making good progress in Shin Megami Tensei IV. Just got under Roppongi and wow. The story in this game is great. I'm just worried I may not be able to get the neutral ending. So far my character is leaning that way, but it's still up in the air if I can maintain that through to the home stretch. >_<
Re: RPG Progress Report
A word of caution: there are some forced choices near the lock-in point that will kick you out of neutral, so if you want to get the neutral ending you most likely will need to be slightly law/chaotic and then make the opposite choice at the lock-in point.

I fucking hate Jean.Ack wrote:I've gotten a little farther in Breath of Fire II and have been sent by a giant frog to a tower to convince a witch to change him back to his original form.
It gets worse. I don't actually remember the encounter rate being all that high before the final dungeon, actually.Ack wrote:I am getting pretty annoyed with the encounter rate, as there are times where every three steps puts me into another fight.
