Amy Hennig leaving Naughty Dog

Post by Stark »

Looks like Monday was her last day at ND. I did a quick search for her name on the site and I'm the only one that had any posts about her, so likely no one will really be affected by this news like myself. I am really bummed. I've been a fan of hers since Soul Reaver and really enjoyed her work on Jak and the Uncharted-series. She was working on the new Uncharted, so hopefully that doesn't take too much of a hit.

:(

I'll be supporting her wherever she goes! (Hopefully back to Crystal Dynamics and can work on Tomb Raider 2.)

I was kind of insulted by Sony's response on the subject. "Yeah yeah she's great. This will have no affect on Uncharted PS4, So make sure you still buy it."

It has that feel of "something went down", but I'm sure will never know the ins and outs of it. I'd rather Neil Druckmann worked on something other than Uncharted 4 honestly. I loved TLoU, I'd rather see him do more there or another IP.

Yeah, I was talking to a friend about that actually. Go back to Crystal Dynamics and revive Soul Reaver, using the Tomb Raider team/engine. Me: :D

Agreed. If she went there (Crystal Dynamics) and helped the writing on Tomb Raider 2 or a new LoK game, I'd be super happy. And she's worked there before, so there is a chance.

I totally agree and would be happy too. I think there is so much more to elaborate and explore in the LoK universe and this move might be the needed catalyst.

I actually like when big names leave the big studios. Makes the field seem more diverse imo. I hope she goes on to do her own projects like the guy who made Megaman and the guy who made Bioshock are currently doing.

This is fairly different from the Ken Levine thing. Irrational was basically reduced to 15 people and everyone else let go. So the big studio doesn't even exist to carry on the IPs any more and who knows what the next thing is for that guy.

Capcom losing Keiji doesn't seem to be as big of a deal to me as Naughty Dog losing Amy. Neil Druckmann has had one giant narrative success under his belt, so they may be fine, but Amy was involved in pretty much everything ND has done since Jak 3, including The Last of Us, so it's hard to say what sort of impact we're looking at.
