Last carboot sale of 2008

Post by Chrono »

Today was the last carboot sale of 2008, so I decided to go along and see if I could get some bargains, I bought quite a few things, but I want to show you lot the haul I got from the first person I saw :

Image

So what happened was I walked in, paid for my ticket and saw an atari 2600 for £20, including 16 games looked at it, the guy offered it to me for £15, I said no, i've already got a load of consoles, and i've got no idea how much an atari 2600 is worth. About 5 mins later I went back, but instead looked at some of the food he had, he offered to throw in the sweeties if I bought the atari, he really seemed keen to sell me it, so I just grabbed things from his stall and put them in the box, then got out £15 in an almost sarcastic manner "15? How about 18?" SOLD.

So thats an Atari 2600 with 16 games and their manuals, 2 joysticks, a Master System arcade stick, a Mega Drive controller, a Dreamcast controller, a Mega Drive, a pedal for a console that doesn't seem to exist, Goldenaxe Adventure for the Master System, a Commodore Datasette, Jason Donovan : Straight from the Heart board game (over 200 questions on Jason Donovan) a Newcastle United Football Club jersey from the 90s glory days (glory daaaays) and a load of sweets that I think you can only buy in Ikea. The rug was stolen from my parents a few years ago

Goldenaxe Adventure not pictured, it was in the car at the time of the picture.

So what do you guys think, was this a good deal? I think it's worth it just for the Newcastle Top, the AMAZING board game and the sweets

Thats a very very nice haul if you ask me, but then im from aus and not used to cheap video game stuff so everything seems like a good deal.

The problem with that advice is that the "quit it" portion of the process becomes much more complicated after the "hit it" maneuver has been completed. Much easier to "quit it" before all else.

I'm in Aus, and once nabbed a Mega Drive II, four Mega Drive controllers, one Master System controller, Aero the Acro-bat 2 for MD, a SNES and two SNES controllers for $30 :D

On topic though, fantastic haul in my opinion Chrono! Especially the Jason Donovan. Everyone loves Jason Donovan.

Carboot sales sound awesome! If I knew anyone there I would definitely come for a summer to check them out. They really sell out of the cars? Flea-Markets here in the US are pretty cool, But at the bigger (nicer) flea-markets they have people who won't really make deals with you no matter how hard you try :( .....Plenty of bootleg merchandise though

When I went to Ireland I looked everywhere for a Super Nintendo and though I'd never find one, But I decided to just ask random people and I found a guy at a fish and chips shop who offered me his little brothers system  Didn't take the system but made a friend.

A market about 30 minutes from Ipswich, Queensland. At first it seemed a fairly standard collection of fresh fruit, bric a brac and such, but tucked away in a corner I found a guy selling vintage games and systems. I'm afraid I can't really remember what else he had.

To be honest though, they're not in the best condition at all. I had to try and repair two of the MD controllers to have them usable, and the SNES was VERY VERY yellowed...Still, it's worth looking around at local markets and things! Might find something interesting.

I would say that was a great deal myself. I would have happily paid that for the stuff.
