I'm looking for a reliable tablet for around $50. I don't particularly care about the operating system as long as it meets these requirements:
-screen ~5.5" or larger
--good colors
--resolution at least 1024x600
-charger included and/or chargeable with USB
-apps for reading .epub, .pdf, .cbz, .cbr available
-web browser
-memory card slot
-no weird modifications
That's all pretty standard stuff. Can anyone help me out?

What is always suggested to me for that is the Nook Color. So here it is for $45 with shipping.
It meets all of your requirements, it is just not the fastest thing out there.

I got a nook color earlier but it came bricked because someone botched an attempt to mod it.
It has most of the features I listed, but is a .cbz/.cbr comic book reader available?

If you get an Android tablet it has several good comic readers, such as Perfectviewer and Comicat.

I knew there would be comic software, but had no idea about the specifics. Thanks for those recommendations.
Anyone have more hardware suggestions?

I ended up getting a Nextbook from Wal-Mart. It's a basic Android tablet but it does everything I wanted it to. Unfortunately it comes with a sticker over the screen, and you have to scrub to get the adhesive shit off. Also, the viewing angle is rather narrow, but that is fine for my purposes.
TL;DR: On Android, the best app for ebooks is PocketBook and the best app for reading comics is Komik.
For ebook reading, the only acceptable app I've found is PocketBook. Free, no ads, great .epub and .pdf support, and two online bookstores with tons of free public domain books. Nothing else even comes close, so anyone who wants to read whatever they want on Android should take notice. The other popular ones are full of annoying ads and they resize or reposition your .pdfs whenever you try to turn the page.
For comic books I've tried PerfectViewer. It's okay but the translucent settings tab at the top of the screen is very annoying. Komik fills the entire screen with your comic, has no visible controls, and has good library functions.

I'll give Pocketbook a spin, but Moon Reader Pro has been good to me for years now.
