Panzer Dragoon: Recommendations? Thoughts?

Post by Erik_Twice »

I want to check out Panzer Dragoon, and I've heard Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox) is the best one. Is that right or should I play the (very ugly) original first?

Is there an Xbox emulator out there? I don't own anything that could play the game so it's emulation or nothing.

Was that one released for PC or is Saturn only?

Contrary to most people, I think Zwei is the weakest. It's full of empty stretches with not many enemies and the difficulty is really low unless you take certain alternate routes, which are a pain in the ass to find if you don't know where they are.

I personally like the original best. It's challenging but simple. Orta is very good, but I feel it takes a while to get your head around because there are so many factors to consider between shooting, lasers, all 3 dragon forms, levelling up each, boosting, braking and berserk attacks that just means that theres a much harsher learning curve.

All 3 are solid games worth your time though. The Panzer Dragoon games on Saturn are some of the cheapest classic games on the system too, although I note you don't have one. The XBox one is dirt cheap.

The PC version of the original game is an unlockable in Orta for the Xbox if you have a way to play that. If you don't have a Saturn or an XBox though, the PC version of the original is your only choice.

I like the Xbox version, has great game play and the better graphics are better then the PC or Saturn versions.

One advantage of the PC version is all the alternate control options with Joy2Key and Mouse2Key add on utilities. Imagine a Flightstick combined with the mouse tied into to the keys.
