Post by nickfil »

yesterday i put in some shelves to hold some games. I got these slick chrome brackets from ikea. The shelves were a perfect size too.

Wow, I like the simple clean design. I will have to keep my eyes out for these when I visit the Ikea in Cinci.

ha! i got a huge huge lot of games at one time and a stack of nhl was in there.

Don't know if you can tell by the crappy photo and because they lack the white label, but there is also nhl 93 and a hockey game just named nhl by EA. I'm assuming it was the first. Also- a sega sports NHL game 95', near the begining a brett hull hockey 95 game, and at the tail end a Wayne Gretzky hockey game.

honestly- even though i have most of the hockey games for the sega genesis i've played none of them. heh.

I actually just counted up all the non retro games i own but haven't played and it was over 50, so i'm not buying any more games until i play those. I'll probably play all the retro stuff i haven't played too just for kicks. Many many old sports games are in my future.

Have you thought about the heat coming from that radiator? I'd be a little concerned about it over the long term.

Those really are slick.

I decided to save some cash and cut/sand/stain/seal my own, rather than buy the ready made planks. If you factor in my time spent, I would have been much better off doing what you did.

I was going to say the same thing about the radiator! I'd think that above-the-radiator would be worst place to keep yr collection of cartridges.

i agree- but that radiator never gets warm. Our house's temp gauge stays at a cool 60 degrees all year round. I spend my days dressing layers and huddled around a barrel fire filled with ET games for the atari. It saves some cash.

the planks were the cheapest part at ikea! I think those were like 4 bucks each. Maybe 3. What kills you is the 7 dollar each brackets. Not 7 a pair- 7 each.

Nice! A very good way to display your boxed games. I'm moving this week and will be finding a shelving solution in the near future. However I will probably need to get a free standing unti as it's a rental with wood panel on the walls. A few screws/nails would be ok, but probably not a good idea to put up shelves.

The radiator did concern me too. You can get a sheild to put over it that with force the air to go out instead of up, but you'll still get some cooked genny carts if you turn it on. It will ruin the light plastic sleeves on the cases that hold the artwork in them too.

Also, this is just the right size, so you cannot expand you collection too much with out relocating some of it. If your like me thats a good way to keep yourself from buying more, but the collector in me still likes to have options. Any expansion plans?

That's exactly why I haven't put my collection on shelves. :D
