Still download PSOne Classics on PSP?

Post by jvalentine98 »

Thinking of buying a PSP to use as a portable PSOne. I know the Vita is out, so can you still access the store and download the psone games? Thanks
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

yup. still available.

its still got lots of games.

its also connected to your account.

many ps1 games can be played both on the psp and ps3.

if the play store ever stops for the psp, you should be able to download it to tne ps3 and then transfer it.

even if the psn store goes down for psp you can easily hack it and just download PSone classics onto your psp from the net. Even PS1 games that were never on the PSN

Thanks. I see Amazon still sells the 3000 new for $100. Gotta pick that up when my tax refund gets here, along with a memory stick pro duo and do some downloading.

I'd rather just get a new one at that price than one with a likely scratched up screen and who knows what else for $75, which is what they seem to go for.

I was in the same boat. Found a PSP-3000 at Target, ended up being the 3000 and 2 games+1movie. Figured i should just get a new one before they disappeared, and also it seems a little bit fragile to buy a used (having a laser drive and all) one as compared to buying an OG Gameboy or something with fewer moving parts.
Also, the PSP on amazon is the core one, no games included. Granted mine came with Ape Escape, Ratchet and Clank Size Matters and Cars 2 (movie), so they're nothing special, but nice.

For adding PSone games I had a bit of trouble so maybe this will help you.

I already had FF7 on my ps3 and wanted to simply transfer it to my PSP. The current PSP firmware (6.60) won't let you do it like that anymore. I had to delete FF7 from my PS3, re-download it from the PSN store and THEN copy it over before i installed it to my ps3. Kind of odd.... I could have just downloaded it straight to the PSP i think over wifi, but PSP only supports WPA. I didn't want to change my wifi from WPA2->WPA just to download a game.

Hopefully this helps.
