Well, it makes sense considering that most of us are American, and our American culture tends to focus more on actors, comedians, and directors as opposed to people who have made important discoveries or changed the shape of our society or the world.

Celebrity is a more valued commodity to us, or at least to our media.

Wow  what a trainwreck this has become.

I am sure Harold Ramis would have approved of the direction this thread is headed, in his honor.

if were on the subject of dead musicians :|

this guy passed away a few days ago.

He was also popular in the 80's

death is inevitable, how many more celebrity deaths are to come in 2014?

Not to mention, scientist deaths, policitial deaths, natural disaster deaths, and average joe deaths?

 Another person who doesn't get Ramis' humor. He wasn't classy and he could have gived a flying fudge about "resonating with the average person".
The funny thing about fame and infamy is that one doesn't get to choose what people remember, it's up to everyone else. Most people will remember Ghostbusters fondly and thus Egon as opposed to something else. If someone is an artist and feel compelled to draw something while thinking happy thoughts about him, something Ghostbusters related is more visually interesting than him sitting at a typewriter or a computer.

If this non-offensive thread is bothering you so much, staying out shouldn't take much effort.

@flojo

I saw that too. I'm sure there are more people here that like more that just Whip It and would be sad, but I figured most people would be "who?". :(

I just realized that Ghostbusters: The Video Game might have been Harold Ramis' final project. (He contributed to the script and did the voice work for Egon.) I am now thinking of playing through it since it is relatively well-reviewed. Is this a good idea? Also, should I play the PS3 or Wii version? (I have both versions, and while the graphics will undoubtedly be better in the PS3 version, motion controls seem like a natural fit for this game.)

both games have different graphics.

wii and PS2 games are similar and PS3, XBOX360 use a different engine.

the older gen stuff is somewhat cartoony and the PS3/xbox is way different.

Guess we'll have to play both.

I know. I have been hitting the Wii pretty hard recently; so, I think I will go with the PS3 version. Supposedly, it is an eight-hour game with a great script; so, I should be through it pretty quickly.

Pretty sure even though Wiki shows GB the VG as his last credit on the timeline, his involvement with it was done many years before and his work on the film 'Year One' was actually done long after that, GB's maligned retail was release just way late.

Sadly Year One appears to be his "last" finished works.

But he's in such good company:

Orson Welles - The Transformers: The Movie
Mako - TMNT
Frank Sinatra - Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Bela Lugosi - Plan 9 from Outer Space
Gene Kelly - Xanadu(not including hosting a couple of MGM documentaries)
Boris Karloff - Isle of the Snake People/The Incredible Invasion/House of Evil/The Fear Chamber (four-part deal)
Errol Flynn - Cuban Rebel Girls
John Candy - Wagons East!
Lee Marvin - The Delta Force
James Stewart - An American Tail: Fievel Goes West
John Carradine - Bikini Drive-In

Yeah, a Ghostbusters game doesn't seem so bad.

Hey! Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a very solid film!
