Rebuying a PS2

Lately I've really been getting into tactical strategy and rpg games, and I just picked up Disgaea DS and I'm loving it. Since i see nothing i really want for the newer consoles this holiday season, would anyone recommend buying a Playstation 2 again just to play all those awesome Nippon Ichi games?

Well, if you play through all of them, considering the amount of time it would take...sure, sounds like you would get your money's worth. Between Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics, and Makai Kingdom, that's...way more time than I want to think about. Then Disgaea 2 and Phantom Brave...

And there's the games they published. Atelier Iris, Atelier Iris 2, Atelier Iris 3, Ar tonelico, GrimGrimoire, Mana Khemia...yeah, you'll be playing for quite a while.

ps2 is a great system, so many great games... my advice would be get it chipped too, i mean i know that piracy isn't a good thing but i usually play backups then if the game was awesome i will add it to my collection, otherwise i just don't play it again.

I would definitely say it's worth a buy. Tons of good stuff on the PS2

If you've got a DS, you might even consider getting a PSP. It has tactical rpgs like Jeanne D'arc and Final Fantasy Tactics:War of the Lions. Disgaea is available too and it's actually better in terms of overall presentation than the DS version

Don't forget Growlanser Generations; I've played through Growlanser II about 3 times. The semi-real time TRPG gameplay is something I really loved.

Yeah, definitely get a PS2. With the "open-source" deal that has been discussed, the PS2 may well become a modern Atari 2600. Also, if you can enjoy TRPGs in Japanese, Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, Super Robot Wars Original Generations, and Namco X Capcom come highly recommended.

I did some research last night and i think i'll with the psp, i saw a bunch of games i'd get, FF Tactics, Disgaea, Crisis Core, both GTA games, syphon filter, god of war. Thanks guys

If you're willing to drop the time into one Nippon Ichi game, it's worth it.
