Hobbies other than gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Yes, and we already know you don't do it on a track from your earlier motorcycle comments. Thanks for endangering people.

stickem wrote: just a few differences than baseball really. 10 fielders instead of 9 with baseball, 7 innings instead of 9 but usually only an hour timelimit, and you just can't keep on fouling balls off. usually a foul on the third strike is an out unless your league allows 1 courtesy foul on the 3rd strike. basically there are about 4 or 5 associations played under sanction here that tweak the rules between themselves. different legal bat/ball lists, pitching arc, homerun limits. stealing in some, some start the count at 1 ball 1 strike count when you bat, some let you have a pitch runner per inning etc. but the basic runs of baseball are the same. oh, we have rugby in high schools here, lol
I'm in a co-ed league so we're required to have 2 women minimum on the field. You can really have a big edge in the league if your women are good players. Unfortunately, on my team, they mostly stink. You can play with one woman but then you play only 9 with an automatic out after the 6th batter. We adopted the courtesy foul rule this year. The other rule we have is that if you walk a guy in front of a woman, she has the option of taking a walk.

I've recently gotten back into assembling and painting Warhammer 40k miniatures - it's an expensive and time-consuming hobby, but it's incredibly relaxing and rewarding if you enjoy that kind of thing. My video game backlog hates me for it though...

I have started playing disc golf again. Gives me a chance to get out of the house and get some exercise. I like it because it is cheaper to play than regular golf , sometimes free after buying discs and depending on where you play. Wanna get back into tournament play later this year.

Ive been doing it for almost 20 years now, Warhammer Fantasy and Reapers mostly. And yes, it is super relaxing and rewarding. I have a rolltop desk in our craft room just for my painting.

My hobbies have not changed since 2012. I have however started trying to do traditional painting again. Inspired by Tims Vermeer I took my paint to canvas for the first time since 1995 and had mixed results. But I was inspired so I will continue with it.

I play the electric guitar, possibly even more often than I play games. I've recently been hitting practice really hard. Learning everything I can right now.

Retro gaming takes a huge part of my free time when you consider the blog and the YouTube channel, but besides from that I'm really into 3D visualisation. I've been into it before I was into retro gaming. I was around about 14 when I first started.
I have a portfolio on the CG Society if anyone cares to check it out:http://brikproductions.cgsociety.org/

The next biggest thing would be photography, and by extension urban exploration. I just love exploring abandoned places and photographing them, but I'm also into exposure photography as well as street photography.

After that would be vinyl collecting I guess, although I don't do that as much depending on how much free money I have. Having said that though, I have a kickarse mid 70's Hitatch setup in my room which has lots of glorious woodgrain, with wall mounted Sansui speakers also with plenty of glorious woodgrain on top of a nice, heavy wooden cabinet from the same era. Currently my collection is probably close to 50 records, most of it metal and alternative rock.

Besides from that I spend plenty of time with my girlfriend, I love the odd alcoholic beverage down at the pub and I love reading. I probably average a book a month, only reading before I sleep. I also love tea. I drink lots of tea.

Hobbies Outside of Collecting Things:

1. Japanese. Although one of my newer "hobbies", this has taken up the bulk of my time. Learning Japanese and Japanese culture has been something I've wanted to do since I was buying VHS tapes from Suncoast videos as a kid. Now I have the time and resources to do so. Even when I'm not actively learning, I've made some new online friends from Japan and we actively talk about our other hobbies.

2. Mantid Keeping. As many of you know, I keep and care for Praying Mantids. I usually have several species, but after all that has happened over the past year, I only have Phyllocrania Paradoxa left. I'll be getting some more this summer though. I also would like to keep Whip Spiders as well.

3. Bike Riding. Not lately, but I used to take my bike out on a daily basis. I love riding my bike in spring/fall.

4. Kendo. Another newer hobby. Not too series about this one yet, but I practice daily.
