Can any one help with this?
I got an older DVD player from about 2008, that will not out put sound. I have an LG TV and use component wires which connect to another cable that has 3 female ports that end up in what looks like an AUX in the TV, and then there is another cable that looks the same but for composite cables. What I do is connect all the wires and leave out the YELLOW wire out, connect the component wires into the AUX/green port and connect the red and white audio wires into the composite YELLOW/AUX port.
There is a picture but no sound. I figured this might be because we had this player setup on surround sound system earlier on, I wanted to switch it back to TV speakers. I clicked many times the button the says "System Menu" but nothing happens even after I eject the DVD disc out. There is another button that says "display" which has some setup options. I tried that, and while I can access the speaker options I can only select how I want my surround sound setup to be (standard, center, another room, etc)
Any one know what am I doing wrong?

Re: Sony DVD player won't put out sound
It "sounds" like the cables need to go to a separate audio input jack. Make sure that red cable is the audio cable and not one of the Component hookups. Component cables are Blue, Green and Red, silly that it has the one cable the same color as audio.RCBH928 wrote:I have an LG TV and use component wires which connect to another cable that has 3 female ports that end up in what looks like an AUX in the TV, and then there is another cable that looks the same but for composite cables. Re: Sony DVD player won't put out sound
My guess is that the player is set to use a digital sound output. Optical or possibly another composite style plug (often orange) rather than the red/white stereo plugs.
The speaker options you're getting seem more like something you'd get from a receiver or something, unless the player is part of an all-in-one system or has internal decoding.
If you have the specific model, you/someone here may be able to find the manual online.

I am sorry, I knew this part as confusing. I took a picture to clear things.ApolloBoy wrote:???RCBH928 wrote:connect the red and white audio wires into the composite YELLOW/AUX port.

I tried to plug the yellow wire into the AUDIO port, but no use. I am not sure what is wrong.

So those plugs have 4 rings on the TV end?
