Project Nim
Documentary about a chimp being taught sign language. Only can happen in the crazy decade of the 70's, the chimp was raised as a human to research how "human" it can become. I expected this movie would just be fluff about save the animals, a surprise learning of not only the animal, but also human nature. Great interviews and super 8 stock really brought out unexpected of what really happened thru the chimp's life.
The making of also worth a watch. So many details to bring out the story.

Watched 13 Assassins the other night on Netflix.
Some things in that movie can't be unseen :X. The "total massacre" scroll scene especially

Overall it was an interesting flick once the action started and the sword play was pretty awesome. Really good ending as well.

Some one here wrote about box office flops, I watch the trailers BattleShip and Mars Needs Moms , not sure why those were big flops, the looked decent compare to much worse movies that made money.
Also I want to know who pays for the movies, is it the producer, the studio, or the distributor?
I know in games the publisher does. In movies I can't tell whats the difference between producer and a director, I believe the studio is like videogame studios, it is the place that worked on the movie and the distributor is the one that puts the movie out to cinema and dvds but who is the investor?
As for Japanese movies, I have never seen a Japanese movie are they any good? I learned that movies from outside Hollywood can be good as long as they do not mimic Americans . Ex.. Animes does NOT try to be a Disney film, I haven't read mangas but I guess they do not want to be Marvel Comics either.
I kind of like Chinese movies from the 70s I believe about martial arts, where the actors seem like they are tall (compressed widescreen?) . I don't know many but I know I have seen Bruce Lee in some of them, not sure if it was in English or dubbed in English. They kind of have the Kung Fu Hustle feel for them. Note: I am not sure if they are Chinese, I just call them that.

You can't talk about much worse movies than Battleship just based on the trailer. You need to actually watch that shit-sandwich-train-wreck before you form an opinion about it. The worst parts aren't even in the trailers, so how can you have a remote leg to stand on?
Not only is it bad (And reviews lampooned it), it's based on a board game.
If they made Uno The Movie, it would do badly also. It's not even a new thing, when they made Clue the movie, it also performed badly.
People don't want movies based on board games. Toys are probably alright because they're already tied to the idea of narrative. GI Joe and Transformers have over a decade of narrative attached to them (regardless of how flimsy it is)
The Matrix is a deeply philosophical movie and half of it is NOT explained. The only things that are explained are the plot details. But the stuff that they're talking about in that movie go very deep. If you don't believe me, look up the title of the book that Neo has the software he's selling in. It's a french article from the 60's talking about the idea of hyper-reality. And it's a narrative that's sewn into the entire movie. Morpheus even quotes it when explaining what the Matrix is.
If you think that movie has no depth, you don't know what you're talking about.
Sadly, I haven't watched a movie in quite awhile. I'll probably watch Only God Forgives next. I've heard very negative things, but I'll give it a shot. I've sat through worse movies willingly.

Pauly shore movies are one of those i can put on, relax to and fall asleep. used to love them but at the same time wonder what i was thinking wanting to throat punch his dumbass. Liked son in law, jury duty a little more. But those were the times i guess. Major payne is another. Liked him, kids were corny. He was funnier on in living colour.
