Man, no amount of stoicism can brace me to watch people die on camera. Still shots are one thing, but to record the acts is just too much. And to think some people out there get off to this carnage
I just hope they resolve this without recourse to civil war. The bullshit from the Kremlin stinks to high heaven.

It was tough to watch, especially the third video. I really hope this will come to an end soon but i don't think it will.

In very simple terms, whats going on in Kiev ? I am really in the dark about this.
Plus the picture look a bit photoshopped. The golden statue turned black, hard to believe from one day's riot (was it one day?) , unless they spread toxic smoke everywhere
I would like to share this video from Syria:
I can't tell who's on who's side, but if I can guess its Assad regime against a young civilian as it seems. it looks like something from the movie Hostel

Where is the man being beaten until he is dead? I skimmed through the 6min video and did not find him.Aramonde wrote:Pulsar_t wrote: It was tough to watch, especially the third video. I really hope this will come to an end soon but i don't think it will.

(facepalm) No its not one day, they've been protesting since November. The Square has had a barricade of tire burnings and Molotov cocktails being thrown.Plus the picture look a bit photoshopped. It's at 0:38 to 0:59 as their dragging him his body goes limp then a guys says "stop! stop! stop!" then they check and they freakout because he's dead or looks like he's dead. His eyes are wide open and hes not moving. Maybe he passed out idk. But that's the third time i've watched it and i can't anymore.Aramonde wrote:Where is the man being beaten until he is dead? It get's worse than this. Ever heard of "crush" videos. Worst thing is that our government said they're protected by the 1st amendment. It's just fucking sick.

There is something I still couldn't figure it out about democracy. What happens when you have a situation like that it is going now in Kiev, where the government kill its own people or work against the people's will (isn't that exactly anti-democracy?)
Democracy maybe worked in Canada, America, and France but it sure does not look like it worked in Iraq, Kiev, and Libya (Gadafi was the revolution's leader against the Libyan King AFAIK) .
Any one else finds this sad part sad from the article:
President Vladimir Putin announced Russia would buy $15 billion in Ukrainian debt
$15b to save a whole country, but in America Facebook buys 1 app for $19b ? I know its capitalism but something sounds quite wrong about this.

Well looks like the corrupt Ukraine president got the hell out of Kiev. There was no opposition left and protesters have taken over without further conflict.

I'm not sure about Canada or France, which I believe are socialist democracies, but the US is not a true democracy, it is a democratic republic, with a system of checks and balances that ideally should keep things from that like happening, although it is very possible that the government could decide to whatever they wish and oppress us. I do think it would be interesting to see in somewhere like the US, where firearms are so much more readily available to the public.RCBH928 wrote:There is something I still couldn't figure it out about democracy. .
In a true democracy, the people are the government, so something like this technically couldn't happen- if it did, it would no longer be a democracy.

Re: Unrest
Why are you unable to vote? Are you no longer a scottish citizen?Adam wrote:I also agree that the thread title should be changed since we are now talking about Ukrainian issues.
I also predict that there could be major unrest later this year in the UK. There are people, just like myself, who will not accept a loss in the Scottish independence referendum. I'm resigning from my job this summer and I will travel home to be there on the 18th of September, 2014. Even though I am denied the right to vote, I will do my best to influence others to vote yes. There's no turning back now.
All I want is to live in a real democracy. I'm tired of being held back by Westminster. They are literally ruining my life. I only have a real future under an independent Scotland.
