So, now that PS4 has been out for a while. What are the opinions of the system it self? Ranging from Very Bad to Very Good. I myself don't have one, and the person I do know with one loves his. I want one, but I probably won't be obtaining one for a long long while.

Just wanted a simple "It sucks" or "It rocks" opinion. If you want to explain why you think so, I am open to those responses too.

While I don't entirely disagree with the notion, it's not like Nintendo turned around and made subsequent systems with Phillips either. The first chunk of the massive Gamecube article goes through who they did wind up working with (SGI, ArtX, tried to buy CagEnt, which was the spun-off 3DO hardware division...).

We can speculate what a joint Sony/Nintendo followup to the SNES might have been, but it would have dramatically changed that generation. So could a 32X-less Sega with a more focused Saturn, so could a better designed Jaguar, cheaper 3DO, or plenty of other things.

What I had heard is that Sony was to get royalties for CD based games, and Nintendo cart based, or something. With the direction the market was going, Nintendo saw how that wasn't exactly going to suit their interests.

I'm enjoying mine although I use my Xbox One much more often.

I'm curious: why? Are you playing cross-platform titles on the XB1 for some reason?

Thanks for the article, but I will save it for a future reading material . Its so long it could be classified as a short book.

I didn't look into the contract between Nintendo and Sony, but the fact that Nintendo went with cartridge and Sony went into CDs makes me believe that they had a conflict on more than profit sharing only. Let us not forget about the different approaches with Family vs Hardcore games too. I guess Sony was the one that did what Nintendon't .

We can not argue about this now, but we can talk about the current situation and the shift of power in the videogames industry turned to Sony and PS4, and as some one else claimed in another thread on this forum , Nintendo became a "niche" . Thats a different world from their dominance between 1985 -> 1996 .

When you read that article about the Gamecube, it may shine a light on why.

The primary reason is just having regular TV through it and the general ease of using the voice commands for the interface. For some reason it just really gels with me to walk into the room, tell the Xbox to turn on and have it turn on my components too. I then watch a show and afterwards say "Xbox go to battlefield 4" or whatever game I'm in the mood to play. Then when I'm done I say "Xbox turn off" and it turns off the system, my TV, and my receiver. It's silly, but I really enjoy the overall experience. It feels a lot more natural than hunting for my harmony and "dealing" with that. I've also really enjoyed a few exclusive games on there. Ryse, Max, Powerstars Golf, Forza 5, and now Titanfall have all sucked me in.

I really like several games I have on my PS4 (Killzone, Resogun, AC4, Marvel, Outlast, etc..) but none of them have really absorbed me the same way as the games I've played on the Xbox. I'm sure that will change as more games come out. I played PS3 far more than Xbox360 and I expect the libraries will ultimately follow similar paths. This is just where I'm at right now.

A Metal Gear PS4... Japan gets the cool stuff.

I'm hoping the U.S. gets a special edition console once Phantom Pain is released.

Well, we did get the MG PSP-3000 not too long ago...but I agree, we need stuff like this more often.
