I've been watching videos too buddy. From what i've seen the only thing the wii is lacking in variety is tacked on 3d platforming.GagaMan wrote:Um, you only have to watch videos to see the Wii stages have far less variety, plus I'm going by opinions I've read by others that have played them both, not reviews. Just about everyone I know who's played it says the Wii version is rather lacking in the level design department. A lot more care and attention went to the 360 version, the fact they got Dimps to do the Wii version doesn't automatically make it better. I'm not sure where you're getting the 'random walls' of the 360 version from, but I guess I'll see for myself when I get it (for PS3). *shrugs*

Tacked on? You mean you actually have to jump once in a while rather than just running forward? I always thought more platforming was what people wanted in a sonic game rather than just holding right, but now actual gameplay is classed as being tacked on? Of all the things you complain about in this game you complain about that? O_o

... when all you do is jump on three enemies and then across a gap... yes, it's tacked on. also, platforming exists in two dimensions... anyone here can tell you that.GagaMan wrote:Tacked on? Re: Sonic Unleashed
I haven't bought a Sonic game since Sonic Advance. I haven't bought a 3D Sonic game since Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. I honestly didn't think Sonic Adventure was a bad game, just not good enough that I'd buy it again. I'd buy the sequel if it managed to improve, but lo and behold, they just kept getting worse, and worse, and worse.
At this point, even if Sonic Unleashed is much better than the other recent entries, it still won't be good enough. Sega should just disband Sonic Team at this point; after the death of the Dreamcast, it seems everything Sonic Team touches turns to crap.
It's not like Sega hasn't put their name on some good stuff; The Club was an unappreciated but great game, the Nintendo DS Sonic games (Chronicles,Rush and Rush Adventure) have attained great praise, and I eagerly await the day I have money to spend on Valkryia Chronicles. What's notable about these games? No Sonic Team.
Maybe Sega should attempt to give Dimps (Sonic Rush, Rush Adventure) a much larger budget and see what they can do for Sonic on a console.

That platforming doesn't look tacked on to me. Looks like a whole level of it, in fact.
And what do you mean by 'platforming exists in two dimensions'? You mean this game has none of that, or platforming should only be 2D, or what? O_o
Re: Sonic Unleashed
Honestly, I don't think there's anyone on sonic team who was there in the beginning. In fact I don't think there's even anyone on Sonic team who was there for Sonic Adventure. It's just a logo they slap on sonic games. So apparently everyone Sega has put on designing console sonic games has been incapable.the7k wrote:

They should just give Sonic to Naughty dog. Half of Jak 2 was so "We really wish we had the sonic license"

Re: Sonic Unleashed
I mean that the d platforming bits that are abundant in the 360 version suck, and the wii variety look good. Why the hell is sonic jumping on spinning platforms with spikes slowly and stupidly in the 360 version? Why do they stop everything and make him kill three enemies then go back to running? Why stop the momentum?GagaMan wrote:Uh..AwesomeMonstar wrote:... when all you do is jump on three enemies and then across a gap... yes, it's tacked on. also, platforming exists in two dimensions... anyone here can tell you that.GagaMan wrote:Tacked on? Well if you prefer just running from one end of the stage to the other with no variety, that's up to you mate. You must of hated Sonic 1.
