In your opinion, is it better to replace my NES's 72-pin connector in hopes that that's the problem with the glitchy visuals, or to just get a new console (maybe a top-loader)?

Come to the dark side. The blast processing power of the Motorola 68000 compels you.

Replacing the pins is cheap and it's a very simple procedure so I'd try that first unless you really want a top loader then go for it.

Though before you buy new pins you can try boiling the old ones. I've never done it but people swear it works. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/1 ... boiling_it

None of the above. Clean and tweak the connector.

You say that now, but six months down the road you're going to have a 3DO and a CD-i and no idea of what to do with them.

They'll keep me warm at night when my girlfriend kicks me out of the house, and I'm living on the streets. Guess I better start looking for boxed stuff...
