Unlockable games within games

Post by wclem »

I was playing through Splatterhouse on PS3 just to unlock the other games and deicded I would throw a thread up here. What I am hoping is to find out about some that I have not found yet. Hoping for more of the not so obvious unlockable games. Also they need to be able to be played on there own without entering the original game itself. The Splatterhouse (original) games can be played by just accessing the game menu, not actually entering the games.

Throw you favorites or just games you know of out there for us!

There are a fair number listed on Wikipedia (also the ones for Sonic's Ultimate Genesis collection).

Playing Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings allowed you to unlock Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantas, which was worth the price of admission alone for the Wii. Also, Animal Crossing on the Gamecube was were it was at, allowing you to play classics like Donkey Kong, Clu Clu Land and more in your player decorated home. That blew my mind. I miss that in the current stuff, but I understand why they are not included, what with the virtual console and all.

Also who can forget Shenmue II, with its inclusion of Space Harrier, Outrun, Afterburner and Hang On.

Finally, my all time favorite comes from a game that I feel is horrible. In Call of Duty: Black Ops you can play the classic text-based adventure game, Zork on the computer in the interrogation room. Only thing of worth for that title.

You can unlock Rayman Origins inside of Rayman Legends. Which is pretty neat.
Castlevania on PSP has a few unlocks also.

I don't know if I really have a favorite.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection has some Master System and arcade unlockables - Alien Syndrome, Altered Beast, Congo Bongo, Fantasy Zone, Golden Axe Warrior, Phantasy Star, Shinobi, Space Harrier, Zaxxon.

In SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1, World Heroes is an unlockable even though it's listed on the box and main menu with the rest of the games. It's pretty damn easy to unlock. The whole thing is quite pointless, really.

Atari Classics Evolved is pretty ridiculous. There are more unlockables than there are games on the main menu. According to the game you're "unlocking an Atari 2600."

There's a ZX Spectrum emulator with games hidden within GoldenEye 007 on N64. Very strange and cool.

I bought the Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands solely because it includes the original Prince of Persia as an unlockable. And luckily it can be unlocked within five minutes of playing the main game.

There was actually an article about this topic in this months Game Informer magazine. I actually only knew about one that they listed. Geometry Wars inside PGR 3!
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)

Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping! :)
