Re: Racketeer Weekly Fight Nights: Resurrection?

^I agree. Most weeks it's stated we'll start with like SF4 and switch to another game at 10. But I'm in bed at 10 so I'll never see the other game. If the fightnights remain on Thursdays though, I won't be around. But if it's a Wednesday I probably will. But I think if there was just a schedule like "this week is this game, next week is this game, etc" then I'd be more prone to pick up other games if I knew I was gonna be around for that night.

@VBD: KOF13 is awesome. I have it and love it.

when you say 'bare bones' do you mean you have Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV? If you have Super then you can still play against guys who have Arcade Edition.
I'm sorry I have SUPER street fighter IV on the PS3, I forgot there was a release even before that one. is evil ryu and Akuma in that one? what exactly am I missing not having street fighter 4 arcade edition for the playstation?

Oh yes I do have Soul Calibur 4 for the PS3

Evil Ryu / Akum, Yin / Yun are added to the AE roster.

I have vanilla SSFIV same as you for PS3 - I can play guys who have AE, but those characters are locked out in my matches. I really should just get AE, but I have it on 360 and just can't justify $18 for how rarely i'd use just those 4 guys online. ...someday.

SCIV is a dead game I think, SCV is much better by all counts. Same as KoFXIII was vastly improved over KoFXII. I'd gladly pick up KoFXIII again if it became part of a rotation.

Mjmjr & Noise- Heh, yes when we began I said I'd like to stick to a rotation and you seemed displeased with the idea of that based on the games/dates/times I was including, and now when I play it by ear and keep it loose, you also don't like it... So I guess it will take a little time to find out how to get your particular interests nailed down for a little more consistent participation from you both. :)

Yes, SF4 happens a lot, and we know this because it is the most commonly requested game, and at least one RB member always shows up for it. Early on I tried to go just one night without it, and got no one. So it will take time to this night into a well-oiled muti-game running machine. All ideas are appreciated and considered for this, which is still being molded into something workable.

I will also note that more than half of the time people say they will show or be on at certain times, predictably, they are not... So saying you won't get a game or bother to show unless others "commit", at this point, is the same to saying you just won't bother to show at all. Some people (at some point) have to take a leap of faith, in order to get this thing rolling. Tenured members such as yourselves have a much greater ability to sway the hearts and minds around here, your showing up will carry more weight on the road to making this more attractive for other RB'ers than say, TSTR or myself (insert new d00dz here) will.
The same excuses that exist everywhere else in all game/social groups- real life, work, family, responsibility etc. exist here and all are valid. Everyone else gets the concept that not everyone can make it every time, and everyone has lives... But right now, we have people making it zero times, because the interest level doesn't out prioritize anything else members here are doing with their nights. The bottom line is plain and simple, if you truly appreciate/enjoy FGs and want to play them- you will make time for them. Like anything else... and if you start joining in and talking positive about it, more people will be apt to join in on this.

All that said, I personally have not had a tremendous deal of time the past few weeks and our stream site is under construction. So it has had some fairly minimal hype, sloppiness and no appeal generated. I am okay with it for now; growing pains and all. When I have a little more time again, I can start attacking better ideas and brainstorming up better ways to promote it among the board members here.
But again- that doesn't change the fact that we'll need some senior members here to step up and back up that interest they have in getting back into some regular FG action. Not basically saying they will "maybe show, if the paint on their walls dries faster than anticipated and there is nothing else to do at all"... which makes other members less interested automatically.

Step up to the plate men. Make a sac fly and play a game you are lukewarm on initially, maybe you will enjoy it once you get into it that night or meet some new peeps on the battlefield. I am making the priority just getting a bit more in-lobby diversity, trying to find that sweet spot for number of players so people don't get bored waiting but don't get bored beating/getting beat on by the same person over and over. That aspect will certainly improve with time, but you all gotta help me get this thing through the infancy, so it can eventually blossom into something better.

As always though, thanks for all the feedback. I really am paying attention to it and am not even close to calling it quits on the idea of getting this to become a regular thing that many players look forward to. 8)

I think it's usually been the other way around; we'll start off with something else and then switch to SF4 when nobody's playing or shows up/Buffalo gets tired of me typing 8===> in stream chat.

So again, we are on for 8pm tonight. (check OP for details!)

I will attempt to start with HDR for an hour or so (less if 0 people show, more if we somehow get a real sweet lobby going). Then shift to SF4 for the middle game and then finish out the night with SFxT. I will have a mix of B-lo players online and in-house tonight so there should be a fair amount of diversity in the lobbies.

I will start checking the forums more between matches, so I can post messages/answer pms.

Cya tonight!

I'll be on soon, stupid PSN update. Basketball got canceled too, so I'm ready to go.

EDIT: I will never suggest HDR again, pls forgive my transgression.

EDIT 2.0: Sorry to dip out early y'all. I'm pretty positive it was my connection being a 8=>. It's been slow all day, and I already had to reset my modem once. Likely has something to do with the MEGAWINTERSTORM out here and everybody and their momma on the internet before the power goes out.

Although, I was winning, which begs the eternal question: LAG OR SALT?????

Update for this week and next. I have entered the busiest time of year for my work, and I am assisting with construction of our new local Game Center/LAN. So my nights will be devoted to those two ventures.

I will be active on these forums and randomly online to play games late at night (probably around 11pm-later). But just wanted to put out this notification as the official capacity of "weekly fight night" will be in a hiatus for these two weeks, and I hope to have better ideas nailed down and come back very solid when we return.

However, I implore ANY and ALL interested FG players to hit me up for matches int he meantime. In any game you feel like practicing or just throwin' down in. Feel free to post in this thread or pm me. I'll literally play you in any game you feel like playing.

I will keep this thread bumped in the down time, at least every week. I will also post up any new ideas that strike me while fiddling about with other things, as well as a date for the next official Fight Night.

Practice up and see ya online soon!
