http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014 ... -j-lo-vhs/Police arrest a woman for failing to return 9-year-overdue J-Lo VHS Anyone who was ever 18 and irresponsible once, take heed. Fox Carolina reported on Friday that a 27-year-old Pickens, South Carolina woman was arrested and detained this week for failing to return a VHS she rented in 2005 from a local video store. The woman, Kayla Finley, had gone to the police station to report an issue regarding harassment and stalking, and while she was at the station, officials there realized there was an old warrant out for her arrest.
Finley was 18 when she rented the movie Monster In Law (starring Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda, with a pitiful 16 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes). When she didn't return the movie, the now-defunct rental store Dalton Video sent her several reminders and then went to the police seeking a warrant for her arrest. (Arguably, Finley was doing her community a favor—surely the wayward soul impatiently waiting for Monster In Law to be returned found something better to watch.) Police sent Finley a certified warrant on Sept. 12, 2005.

Who says the 90's are dead? I hope none of our fellow RB posters are still holding onto some PSX or Saturn games they rented from Blockbuster.

I come here for retro game talk, not to have other tech sites' articles reposted. I have Gizmodo for that....Ben wrote:I can only speak for myself, but I start my day with Ars and Tech Dirt. If the store is out of business, it is hard to see any benefactor of such a Warrant for financial gain. Yes, she stole the tape and clearly ignored the reminders to return it intentionally, so fair enough; theft.
