Sega Game Gear - Removing Scratches from Screen?

Post by ReddMcKnight »

So, I'm getting a Game Gear, but there are some scratches on the outer screen. Is there any kind of substance that can remove them, or is there an easy way to replace it, etc.?

There's plastic polish (sold for phone screen repair etc). I use Displex brand. I'm not sure how well it'd work on a GG lense since it's kinda flexible and soft compared to most other lenses. it's good to have around anyway since it works so well. You can actually buy replacement lenses for pretty cheap. You just pry the old one off with a flathead screwdriver, and stick the replacement on.

You could try Novus plastic polish as well. I've never tried it, but if I were going to I would start with Novus #2.

Novus 3 is the harshest isn't it? I think you're usually supposed to start with 1 and see how it goes. I also read somewhere once that it's not uncommon to never use 3.

I've never used Novus 3. It is way too harsh. Novus 1 seems like just a step up from windex, so I usually go 2, then go over with 1 if necessary.

If you replace the screen, just be careful not to trap any dust. I replaced my screen on my GBA SP and I got a bunch of dust trapped. It makes the screen look like thrash. Make sure you know how to remove and replace the screen before you do it. Don't learn in the process.
