I posted on the forum but until I hear back I may look into your model. There's a specialty tech shop in my city that may be able to get me one, and the CD-R's. So look for a Y, A, or B model Liteon burner with least C1/C2 Errors and accurate scan for nero scanning? I'll start poking around.
A,B and Y models should be hard to find as they were released a 1-2 years ago , i was lucky to get 4 new B's myself.
your probably going to be looking for a current model by Liteon or a NEC Optiarc that can be easily obtained.
ClubMyce should be able to tell you what current models that are great burners..........

grease the rails and gears with White Lithium Grease or Silicone Grease.
I'm a little worried about doing that. I have no idea how to do that and I don't want to mess it up. Like I said, it's a fresh laser unit and I don't want to mess it up.
if its a new 3rd party PS1 drive it wont need greasing for some time , but if its pulled from another PS1 and its an original then i would grease it.
also greasing drives is easy i can post pics on how to do it , for example here is one i did recently for a member of shmups forum

oh and dont tweak the pot that will be the last thing you should do
also many people will say burn at the slowest speed your burner will go, basically thats for old old burners things have changed since then.
Concur, try to go 1x or 2x.
i too believed in burning at slow speeds for a decade or so but while researching for a new burner over at ClubMyce forums i stumbled on a sticky that was about burn speeds and how burning at slow speeds is doing more harm than good it was a quite detailed sticky
also when i got my Liteons i ran a test where i burnt at X8/X16/X24/X32 and then ran a scan for each.
X16 had the lowest C1/C2 errors , if X8 ( which is the lowest my Liteons will go ) was best i would get the best scan with that speed but didnt X16 was best.
