Need help doing fresh XP install with a USB keyboard...
It asks for any key to be pressed to boot from CD, but my computer doesn't recognize there being any keyboard until after Windows starts. Is there way to load a generic USB driver or something? Perhaps off a floppy? I unfortunately don't have any PS/2 keyboards at the moment.

There should be option in your BIOS (press F2/Del/F1/Pray at startup)
In peripherals you should be able to enable USB keyboard support
If your BIOS doesn't support USB keyboard support are you sure it can handle XP?
If you have no option to enable USB keyboard support then you need to get one of those little usb -> PS/2 adaptors.

Not always the case.
I've seen this happen on a lot of PCs. It'll let you into the BIOS with a USB keyboard but it won't accept input from the keyboard when you need to get into safemode or 'press any key to boot from CD'.
It's worth a try. IF he can get into the BIOS and enable USB support. It'll work. IF he can't get into it then he still needs to either get a PS/2 keyboard or USB to PS/2 adaptor.

Sometimes in the BIOS the USB option is called USB Legacy mode or USB Emulation or somesuch. Basically it treats your USB keyboard and mouse as PS2 devices, passing input as PS2 input until an OS like Windows takes over input handling.
