Smile: Got a call back on that phone interview I had on Tuesday. The recruiter told me that yes, I had bombed the softball questions at the beginning but the interviewer felt it was just nerves. Apparently he was confused that I was having trouble remembering how to count possible IPs between subnet masks but was able to create VLSM networks on the fly and could explain spanning-tree until I was out of breath. My final in-person interview is next month. If I get passed that, I get hired and all the work I've put in these last six months since I got laid off will be worth it.

Frown: This means more studying. I went ahead and bought a Cisco ASA on ebay so that I can prepare for the interview with the actual gear instead of with simulators.

I'm so psyched about this. I really hope that Nintendo has woken up and gotten a gameplan together. That company produces too much awesome to be languishing like this.

Driving to multiple Big Lots for the 50% off game sale not finding too much left on the shelf. One store had them buried behind the cash register, thought I might have got lucky. Most were multiples of the same boring titles. Ah well, there are still a few more in the county.

I forgot to mention in the Finds thread when I bought that Wii Silent Hill game for five bucks. It has a mature rating so I WAS CARDED! The employee actually asked my birthdate, but pointed out the Cash Register automatically requires it. If one wants to feel like a teen again, go buy liquor or mature games at Big Lots.
I meant to go to Big Lots today, but I had to stop by my (new) doctor's office first and got lost on the way! I wasted so much time, that after finding the doctor's office I just ended up going home... Maybe this weekend I'll hit Big Lots. So yeah, I'm ticked too.

I mentioned in another thread - but I recently got carded when I bought The Witcher 2. I guess the big box stores do that. I rarely shop at places like that - and I rarely buy M-rated games - so I was kind of shocked myself.

I was carded in Target about 2 years ago... for buying a "T" rated game. I was 24, and had more facial hair than publicly acceptable. I was so confused.

The worst part was, I didn't have my ID on me, so my gf had to "buy it for me"

To be fair, it's not the cashier's fault. The registers display automated prompts and they have to enter a birthdate to proceed.

Yeah, I worked at Wal Mart too. Never rung up games, but I usually got stuck cashiering the cigarette isle, and there were many awkward moments.

Do they really card for "T" rated games?

Could be worse, you could be on file and are limited on buying computer duster at a Target. Telling them you work with computers is no excuse.

Just tell them you're addicted to rigging up public toilets to bubble alarmingly when someone sits down on them.

I also once was carded at a Meijer (a midwest 24-hour grocery store) for purchasing Faygo (a soda monetized by trailer residing clown rappers) Ginger Ale. They had to get a manager to confirm that Ginger Ale did not in fact contain alcohol.
