I've interviewed several people in my time for software engineering positions. I've never used their level of nervousness as a scoring factor. Pretty much everyone is nervous during an interview. Hopefully you hear back some good news.Flake wrote:So I'm angry at myself because even though I answered all those questions right, I'm worried that all he'll have written down in his notes are that I was nervous and messed up the first two easy questions.
What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Surprised I haven't mentioned this yet.
Frown: My dogs left eye is a tad rolled back and her third eyelid is a tad swollen. I called the vet this morning and they said, "if you can get her here before 10:30am, we'll see her immediately". Which I did. Otherwise the next appointment available was at 2:15pm.
The vet stained her eye to check for any scrapes, and she had none. He further examined her eye and he seemed puzzled. He even did the hand on chin while clicking your tongue thing.
He ended up prescribing her eyedrops that she'll receive three times a day, and hopefully that will help clear whatever it is up. He asked me to call back on Friday with an update.
Fifteen minutes and eighty-five dollars later, I'm also hoping the drops work.
Smile: I'm really glad I took Ripley in when I did as the roads are now covered in a thin sheet of ice, and it is only getting worse. Something (could have been my brain) made me ask the vet "Is there any possibility of someone seeing her earlier?".
Frown: One of the biggest fundraisers we are holding is a Valentine's Day Artini. Live music, signature drinks, seated dinner, door prizes, etc. Not having it on Valentines Day due to weather could lead to a loss of thousands of dollars in contributions and donations.
edit: Frown: Looks like the Duke vs. UNC game needs to be postponed. If they don't, they'll be putting a lot of people in danger.
But how cool would an on campus student only attendance be?

And here it be:Michi wrote:In semi-related news, I received an email from "Toonami-Tom" informing me that I'd won the "Week 2" t-shirt design from December's T-shirt Giveaway and to expect it by the end of February. My first thought was "Yay!" My second thought was, "Wait... did I even enter that contest?" I don't remember doing it, but considering how late Toonami airs my memory may very well be fuzzy. I guess I'll find out by the end of next month.

Sorry, my rooms lighting is worse than usual on account of a burnt light bulb.
I thought I was getting the black and grey one not the blue and white one, but whatever. This works too.
It also came with a little card:

I love you guys too! *sniff*

I yelled "Holy Shit!" so loud at that buzzer beater that my wife made me reassure the cat and dogs that everything was indeed going to be ok.

Recorded it, but only watched the second half.
Not to take any credit away from an incredible win from Syracuse, but what was PITT thinking during the last two minutes of the game? A hurry up offense had been their bread and butter and then they play the slow down game? Plus Pitt got just about every call (including some they didn't deserve) and didn't capitalize on turnovers.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I'd credit that more to SU's defense than anything Pitt changed. I've watched every SU game this year and they tighten the defense intensely in the last 5-10 minutes of any game that's close. They are a much better defensive team than offensive team (although Ennis is insanely good in that same final stretch, which helps).Luke wrote:Not to take any credit away from an incredible win from Syracuse, but what was PITT thinking during the last two minutes of the game? The way I see it, Pitt's biggest mistake was that time out before the final play. You never want to give any coach - especially one like Boeheim - a chance to get some last second coaching/planning in. Hat's off to Pitt for pushing us hard, but I feel like if we can win at the Zoo (finally!) we can win anywhere (including at a certain campus in NC in a week or so...).

Smile - we got about two inches of snow overnight
Ticked - my wife had to go to work on the icy roads and shortly after she left the power went out.
Smile - since we are being given a small camper, I have some boat batteries that I rigged up to a UPS and have internet for about four hours.
Ticked - Stuck inside working on a major issue, when all I want to do is take pictures of the snow. But if this is not resolved today there will be big issues at work. Damn this being an adult.

I also thought calling a TO was a dumb decision.dsheinem wrote: The way I see it, Pitt's biggest mistake was that time out before the final play. PITT vs CUSE is starting to rival DUKE vs UNC for the ACC's best rivalry.

Ticked
Driving to multiple Big Lots for the 50% off game sale not finding too much left on the shelf. One store had them buried behind the cash register, thought I might have got lucky. Most were multiples of the same boring titles. Ah well, there are still a few more in the county.
Smile
I forgot to mention in the Finds thread when I bought that Wii Silent Hill game for five bucks. It has a mature rating so I WAS CARDED! The employee actually asked my birthdate, but pointed out the Cash Register automatically requires it. If one wants to feel like a teen again, go buy liquor or mature games at Big Lots.
