Yeah but I rented a ton of games as a kid. So yes, the selection was nice.
Did you ever rent RPGs? I rented a few, such as Final Fantasy VI, and I would not have enough time to finish them. So I would hope when I rented it again that I got the original cart I rented (as they had multiple) and that no one had erased my save. And when I rented a new RPG I tried to be courteous and only erase the save that had barely played the game, not the save that was 20 hours in.
Of course. And I coincidentally just mentioned that on rpgamer backtrack podcast we recorded last night for ogre battle.
I rented Ogre Battle and Shining Force I and II all the time. I got a FFVI cart for xmas so never needed to rent.

Platinum and Monolith Soft have both apparently retweeted the Direct announcement. That's enough to get me hyped.

Seems to be at an interesting time though....? Might be able to watch this one live!

That is the thing! As we grew up and were able to afford more games, we started to devour them with a carnivorous attitude. The gaming culture changed as we grew up and gaming has become more mainstream. The problem is that the video game industry takes longer to put out games due to rises in complexity with technology and we are left with this, people complaining about not having enough.
Yes, it changed for the worse.

There are more dev teams now than there were before though (though less major studios), I don't agree that there are less games being made than there were when we were younger. Think about how many great games came out last year, too many for me to keep up with that's for sure.

The Wii-U has plenty of good games, certainly enough to entertain a person for a year especially if we include ports.

It's really just hyperbole that the Wii-U does not have any good games, and if we were kids, we'd have no problem holding on to a Mario game for a few months or what ever, as the other guy said. I had maybe 10 games for the n64 and that was probably on the lowside compared to most of the other kids, and I was satisfied.

I actually just picked up a Wii U for two reasons, one being that I've sat this console war out due to disdain for Sony and M$ and was a little irked with all of the Wii U articles from a few weeks ago, the other being that I'm a huge fan of Monolith Soft from their Xenogears/Xenosaga days. I know this would never happen, but I actually know quite a few people who would buy a Wii U if we got a true Xenogears reboot, but I'm guessing SquareEnix still has a death grip on that IP. One can dream, anyway...

I first played Xenogears a couple years ago and fell in love with it. From there I played the Saga games and even basically bought a Wii to play Xenoblade (and subsequently became re-acclimated with Nintendo's offerings after being a heavy PS1/PS2 fanboy for many years). X really excites me because it looks like the massive world of Xenoblade combined with the heavy emphasis on mechs like Gears had.

So....I guess you could say I really like Monolith Soft too. ;D

X certainly looked neat in the trailer.

Eventually I'll beat Xenosaga. It's still on my shelf 50% complete.

Nope. Xenosaga is the only Xeno game I have played. :)

Hmmm...well you should try it at some point. I'd say 'gears is the better game. It starts a bit cliched but quickly switches to a rollercoaster of constant "OMG", "WTF", and "whoa".

Battles are neat and the music is pretty sweet too.
