O.pwuaioc, you act like this any time anyone criticizes you on this forum or disagrees with you. You lash out with bile and anger. We moderators are tired of your behavior. We are tired of your harrassment. And frankly, you have a problem. Anytime anyone even goes so far as to make a joke, you post insults and snide remarks. Do you act like this off the forum? Do you act like this to personal relations or at your place of work? Because we do not find it acceptible and are tired of your disrespectful manner towards others who disagree with you.

I think you should take some time and go cool down. And definitely rethink your general behavior. You're a great member most of the time. But anytime something like this occurs, you become mean and abusive towards others.

And yes, if you had sent me a harrassing PM, which you have done in the past, I would have posted it here and then immediately issued you a warning for harrassing a member in a private message. Because that is the point that we have reached.

Honestly my mother told me I even made fun of that when I was 4.
I don't know of anybody who used the stork, personally. I personally never wondered about where babies came from until I was pretty old, because all I knew was that it took a man and a woman and that's all I needed to know. I figured out sex pretty quickly after that.

Here's the part you don't ever seem to understand. The issue is not with you disagreeing with people, it's with you being a dick about it.
I am firmly against Santa and the Easter Bunny, and think they do children more harm than good. We're priming them to believe in lies for the sake of something nice.
You initially said that, and people disagreed with your view. This is known in academic circles as "a discussion". Then you come back with this (edited version):
I feel sorry for your kids if the only way you can inspire their imagination is by tricking them into believing what's not real. I feel lucky to have had a family where such nonsense wasn't necessary. I for one never needed Santa or the Easter Bunny to have a great imagination, and I thank my parents for that.
Even edited this makes you look like a dick.

:(
Did I say anything to prfsnl_gmr? No, of course not. He didn't like what I said, but it's no big deal, people can agree to disagree.
Ack wrote:And yet, you believe in Obamacare...
Did I say anything to that obviously political jab by Ack? I don't even "believe in Obamacare", whatever that was supposed to mean, but whatever, I get it, I'm more liberal than Ack is, he had to get his barb in. Was that a dick thing to say? Only if I said it.
MrPopo wrote:He's a big hit at kids' parties.
No, no way you weren't a dick here. No way calling me a boor and upsetting at kids' parties is in any way, shape, or form being a dick. The hypocrisy first starts smelling around here.
fastbilly1 wrote:My parents treated the Easter Bunny greatly. When my youngest brother turned six, the Easter Bunny stopped bringing gifts and brought us a tool every year, so when we got to college we had a full toolbox. It also brought us a family movie every year. One year it was the Terminator 1&2 VHS boxset. So we got an Imperial Wrench set and Terminator, best Easter ever.
fastbilly1 has a different experience than I did. He has a different opinion than I did. He clearly disagrees with me. Did I say anything to fastbilly1? Of course not. Know why? He didn't say this:

Next one of these guys is gonna tell me my Leprechaun trap in March is pointless.
This isn't disagreement. This isn't "discussion." This is flat out saying that parents who don't raise their children believing in Santa raise their children without any imagination. Nevermind the billions of people across the world for whom Santa Claus isn't a part of their cultural traditions, not getting your children to believe in it is raising your child without imagination. He then smacks of elitism, that because he has children, my opinions are invalid.

I don't care if people disagree with me. I don't care if the whole forum disagrees with me. That doesn't bother me in the least. It's to mjmjr25's attack, and only to that, did I respond. Not to MrPopo's instigation, not to Ack's jab, not GZX's jab, not prfsnl_gmr's or fastbilly1's disagreements. It was that. Dick move on mjmjr25's part. But hey, Ack, I'm the dick because I dare to respond in kind. What hypocrisy. And MrPopo, if you're going to try to "get me" on something, at least don't be deceptive and have me respond to something I actually didn't.

I expect nothing less from Racketboy's superb moderator team.

Well to Acks and Popos remarks, I think they were meant to be funny jokes, not attacks.

However, while many cultures do not believe specifically in Santa, they typically have other mythological and folk beings or creatures they do believe in and tell their kids about.

Your initial post also insinuated parents who embraced Santa and the Easter Bunny are harming their children. So while mjmjrs response had some snark, it was somewhat provoked. Talking about others kids or parenting, directly or indirectly, is something I stay clear of.

And that's why I didn't say anything in response. "Friendly" jabs, so to speak. Mike's wasn't.

Hells going on here now?

What's with all the hostility? I think you deprive a kid of their childhood if you take them to a magic show and say, "Lets' leave, all of this is going to be bullshit". That may not what Opiwac is trying to say, but it sure does come off that way.

And the same could be said about a Jewish person telling their kid that Chanukah is bullshit too. "The exile is really just an uplifting parable".

Fun is fun as long the intent is for everyone to have fun. Silly celebrations and made up characters help this.

This thread however isn't much fun.

Chris, you frame your argument any way you need to. It's part of a delusion - I get that. Guys you like are poking fun, guys you don't are attacking. You don't like me and that's fine. You don't like that I speak about my relationship with Christ and for sake of tolerance and understanding i've toned down that talk down on this board. You however, ad nauseum, make comments about the bile that is organized religion - with no regard for those who might differ. Intolerance is a two-way street and you hog the road.

I've made it a point to move past the comment you made about my family - to which your justification was that I took a shot at dsh and his family; so I didn't have right to complain (sound logic, prof.)

I went a good 6 months with out commenting on any of your offensive (to me) posts. You, out of the blue, pm'd me wanting an item. I sent it to you for free. During pm's and on the board, you were polite to me during this exchange. Two days after you recieve the item - you take a veiled shot at me in the smile / ticked thread. You have no real conviction. You are a poser and an internet cliche'. You poke around waiting for opportunities to jump on the smallest minutia with righteous indignation because you simply and truly are lacking for real happiness and seek to sap it out from those who do. It's sad.
