noiseredux wrote:My point was simply that playing something like Garou via VGA w/ really nice speakers cranked up loud and an arcade stick is going to offer you a pretty different experience than playing a fighting game on NGPC isn't it? And sometimes you're in the mood for one experience over the other.
What if the screen is only 2.7 inches

Just about everything is better than Virtua Fighter.

Ballz 3D is better than Virtua Fighter
Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi is better than Virtua Fighter
Pit Fighter is better than...

OK, not even I can bring myself to say that one.

They're still two games in the same genre, there are still many elements between the two that can compared and contrasted. I don't like the mentaility of handheld games as being so different to console gaming that the two aren't comparable, even if you're someone who likes both and doesn't characterise one or another as inferior. It seems to perpetuate this weird idea some people have that handheld games aren't 'real' games likes home console or PC ones.
I don't for a second think that handheld games aren't 'real' games or any such thing. All I was saying was that the experience offered is different between the NGPC game and the DC game. I didn't say better/worse. I said different. And that my mood would dictate which I'd prefer. I'm not really sure why I'm having a hard time getting my point across here, or why my point is being missed. But I'm not really sure how to explain it any more clearly.

that part was troll-ish. But I do actually love Fighters Megamix which is basically Virtua Fighter 2 Vs. Fighting Vipers. That game is amazingly ridiculous. So over-the-top. I mean, you can fight against the car from Daytona USA. That's just badass.

Not to break up the discussion of what kind of art we like to look at while touching our buttons in different ways, but I have an on-topic post:

1. Dead Pixels (PC) - Run n' Gun w/ RPG Elements
2. Magical Drop V (PC) - Puzzle
3. Reaching Out (Android) - Visual Novel
4. Nanolife (Android) - Visual Novel
5. Darius Burst (PSP) - Shmup
6. Ridge Racer 2 (PSP) - Racing

Thoughts:
Odd that a handheld title is the best of the modern RR series. The only thing I could thing would be missing is the customization aspect of RR7. Yeah, it's got the wonky on-rails feel to the drifting, but that doesn't make it any less fun. A huge range of tracks and music from all across the RR series (including delicious R4 tunes), multiple game modes, and a fairly extensive world tour make for an awesome arcade racer. And no, I didn't go into the MAX tours, because that shit is just AI cheating with infinite nitro and OP cars that don't match their normal specs. I still unlocked everything and whatnot, so I consider this one done.

Good....cause nobody bad mouths my Virtua Fighter and yes Fighter's Megamix is a lot of fun and totally worth playing, if not only for Virtua Fighter 3 movesets on the Saturn.
