Well I'm a weirdo who legitimately believes in things considered pseudoscience or paranormal like Ghosts and Ball Lightning and such. I like reading stories or accounts that could potentially be real. I actually watch a couple paranormal investigative shows, mainly Destination Truth (in the rare times it's on SyFy). I always try to remain skeptical about things I read. Instead of making a thread solely about the creepy "super natural" stuff, why not discuss all things in the realm of pseudoscience? I mainly stay on the spooky side of things, but let's be open here.
Is there anything you believe in that's considered pseudoscience? Any strange beliefs in general? Anything that you may not necessarily be convinced of, but think might hold water? Have any great "unexplainable" stories to share? Anything weird ever happen to you or someone you know? And, for the complete skeptics, what is your favorite pseudoscience topic to make fun of or pick apart?
Always love an opportunity to tell this story. Most bizarre thing that's ever happened to me.
Senior year of high school, my friend Arek was over, we were using my brother's ouija board. He said something along the lines of "if there's a spirit in the house, make yourself known by breaking that clock" and gestured to my mom's old cuckoo clock. We sat in silence for a moment, then he started shaking and breathing quickly, and the metal pinecones that act as weights to force the clock to tick suddenly dropped to the floor, the little bird came out at 47 minutes after the hour (when it only cuckoos on the hour and half hour) and stuck there for days.
Arek felt really sick afterward, had to go home, and has refused to try again. To this day I'm convinced that he did it with his mind.
Anyway, yeah, gives me a reason to believe in at least some pseudoscience.

Crazy. I've never had anything weird happen to me, but my mother has a creepy little story. When she was like 14, she had one of those nights where you just can't sleep and are wide awake almost all night. Around like 2 or 3 a.m. she noticed a shadow out of the corner of her eye and looked at it head-on and swears she saw a man in like a suit from the '40's and a fedora standing at the foot of her bed staring at her. She screamed and her dad charged in with a shotgun, but the man was gone. Interestingly, a man who previously lived in that house died in the basement of a heart attack. >.>
EDIT:

also we had a thread for this...i remember poo pooing it too long ago
Really? I searched for similar topics but didn't find any.

I've always thought it would be cool to build an orgone accumulator.
I mean, I don't have a lot of faith in the reality of orgone, but I think it would still be cool. And if it does produce an effect, that's just icing on the cake!
I'd also like a dreamachine.
(Side note: I used to be kind of obsessed with the works of William S. Burroughs? He was a fan of both "technologies.")
Oh, the Pyradym? That's awesome too. Probably not the most effective treatment for ones medical needs. But it might be effective at impacting ones state of mind! And it looks so cool.
