I also field a max 10. I liberate most of the cities and rotate units out that have seen too much combat.

Basically, most maps have the bulk of the battles at a certain few cities. I will put 2-3 units on these heavy cities, atleast one of each alignment and juggle who encounters based on the incoming squad. This way I can more easily control combat. The other units I will park and defend liberated cities. the AI will sometimes identify and attempt to liberate undefended cities, especially sneaky flying units, and water units in a sea stage. These are the units who dont need much action. If a unit levels up too much, I will rotate them out.
On certain maps you can basically surround the enemy base, and at that point you can move all your units upnas enemies dont have much of chance sneaking out undetected.

Took down Figaro and the Kalbian Peninsula last night. Pretty much rolled through this one. Almost all fighting happened at the city just south of the mountains beloelw the base. Was able to increase some alignments and I persuaded the team of dragon tamers. So I picked up 2 tamers and a nice Silver Dragon.

Warren is my boss assassin. He is a lich with a mage, Cerberus, and wraith. No one has faced Warren and survived yet.

Yeah, I have Lich Warren teamed with Slust, a Wyvern, and Rauny as a Princess. The end result is that I can park him on a road and watch wave after wave of enemies crash onto him and die. No one survives. Heck, almost no one survives the first full round of attacks.

I beat Mizal last night in the Tundra. So I guess Galf is my next target. I hear this map is supposed to be a pain and has some of the hardest units in the game. I guess I'll find out the hard way if that is true.

This is why I asked if I should raise any of my non-named troops. You sort of need them for filler if you don't want to over-level the named ones, but other than that the named ones are really superior. Their starting stats are just much higher as far as I can see.

From what I've seen you can easily do with 3 or 4 flying units in the vast majority of maps, so you could pile up all your storyline characters in those units with some fliers (and either healing items or a Healer, which can be one of the ladies and you can even go back and forth between Muse and Shaman on the same character, for the most part).

I have 3 flying units, 2 high aligned and 1 low aligned. You dont really need to put your named characters with a flier. But it is all preference. I typically like my units to have a named leader, so I rarely team them together.

I liberated the Valley of Kastro last night and picked up Rauny who is bad ass. I also snagged another Undead Ring off my first defeated unit. So Saradin has a staff and ring waiting for him. This will lead me to go to Balmorian Ruins next to go pick him up.

I shuffled around some units last night to better include Rauny and those 2 Dragon Tamers I persuaded to the cause. I also noticed I was running with 3 hellhound/cerberus so I took one out and converted some beast tamers to ninjars.

Ogre Battle is wearing on me, as I'm spending most of my game time with it, and so far this year my game time has been getting more and more limited. I beat the tar out of Galf yesterday the long way and then blitzed Fort Allamoot with two squads consisting of Liches, Princesses, Dragoons, and Wyverns. I don't want to do that too often as I want to level a few units before reaching the final battle(Yushis needs to be a Seraphim), but damn if it didn't feel good to finish a map in 5 minutes.

Oh well, 8 fights to go. I'm going for Fogel next...

Who else is actively playing?

I got about halfway through Balmorian Ruins battle last night and had to save it mid battle. It was getting too late and I was sleepy. I plan to knock it out and another map tonight.

Well, I still am. I literally just beat Fogel and convinced him to join five minutes ago. It is time to head to Dalmuhd Desert. 7 fights to go...
