The vinyl record is fun to collect with so many shapes, speeds and sizes including laser etching, colored vinyl, locked grooves, elaborate covers & sleeves and much more. Here are some of the highlights from my music collection!

Does anybody else collect vinyl? What are some of your highlights?

Aaaaaaahhhhh! Fingers on grooves!

Some fun stuff there. Now you need the 3 sided record and maybe some shaped ones too. :)

I took PC big box pictures and have been lazy and haven't edited. I don't have that much vinyl that's "special", but maybe those will get done too.

I really want to find that old Bloom County comic vinyl that was included in their collection book... Also, I remember when cereal and other consumer products had those thin floppy 45s of novelty songs. Man...that brings me back!

Yup.

I have 2 of those I believe. One from a music magazine that came out in 91 or 92. The other was in the novel Fast Sofa.

Does anybody collect 70's porn vinyl? **serious question**

I recently met a vinyl collector who played me some and it was freakin' excellent! Very funky and groovy..and obviously difficult to not imagine Ron Jeremy working his magic while it was playing :)

Cool video! Did not know about the extra hidden soundtrack on the lock groove of certain albums, nice!

I have a Billy Idol Picture disc, actually a different photo printed on the each side of the record. My other I guess unique album would be the New Order extended Blue Monday "Floppy Disc" album. The inner sleeve and LP removed would leave the cutouts exposed as if a real floppy disc gutted out. Looking now so ironic that early 5 1/4" floppy cover may have been a premonition to todays MP3s? :?

So true about the lost documentation and artwork from LPs to Cassettes (very little art) to CDs and finally MP3s (No art). I see this as well on the old Laser Disc movies, some are real treasures in the large boxed and bifold editions.

Fun stuff!

I have a bunch of neat vinyl that I think is super-cool but might not interest the average person. I have two records of kazoo music, a Jesse "The Body" Ventura picture disc, a bunch of colored things, some 78s, flexidiscs, one record shaped like the continental US, and even a J-pop version of one of the songs from Dragon Quest II!
I also have a cool two-disc collaboration between John Giorno, William S. Burroughs, and Laurie Anderson in which they each get a side to their own work but the FOURTH side RANDOMLY PLAYS one thing by one of them.

I love records. Most of my oddities came from a trip to the WFMU Record Fair in NYC. It's hosted by my favorite station and they get dealers from all over the country to bring ALL KINDS of awesome stuff. The only unfortunate thing is that some records are ridiculously expensive. Some day I'll go back...

Picked up a few records today from an Estate i'm helping with. Was a very religious couple so almost everything was hymns and christmas music but I found a few things which interested me.

Don't know why I was drawn to pick this one up just seemed so odd to me I guess :P.
