you need to get

god of war
GTA liberty cities
GTA vice city
burnout legends
burnout dominator (i like legends better)
tony hawk

if you like sports games
virtua tennis 3
mlb the show 08
madden 09
fifa 09
pro evolution soccer 09 is also good, but no commentary present during games

you may want to double check if you want metal gear portable ops, especially the newer "+" version.

I haven't played Til The End of Time, so I can't make a comparison. But Star Ocean has been a lot of SNES era RPG goodness. It has a similar feel to Tales of Phantasia (which makes sense, since it's the same guys), so if you like one I'd suspect you'll like the other.

Many people don't like MGS:PO+ because it doesn't really have a story to it. MGS games are ALL about story. I think MGS:PO+ focuses a lot on multi-player. I don't know if you're like me,but I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT when companies take games that have built their legacy around the single player experience and try to make them multi-player games. Multi-player gaming is becoming a real plague in the gaming industry today. People want to make EVERYTHING multi-player now.

Anyway, if you just get the regular MGS:PO(not the PO+), you'll get a good story. I don't know if this is true, but I hear the European release of MGS:PO has some extras(due to it being released late). Since the PSP is region free, I'd imagine you can play it.

As a recent PSP owner, I just learned about CFW recently(a lot of which I picked up on this board). CFW lets you do a lot of stuff. You can use it to modify saves and create cheats for games. It lets you make backup copies of your games that can be played from a memory stick(which is said to massively cut down on load times), as well as downloading PSP games to play on your memory stick(which is probably the main reason Sony hates the PSP hackers out there). And of course, it lets you run emulators(Genesis,S-NES,Neo Geo,MAME and PS1). I think there are other benefits to CFW as well. Basically, CFW allows hackers to come up with tons of interesting things to do with a PSP beyond what it was designed for.

The ability to modify saves and create cheats is one thing I like as it lets you get around stupid things in some games. For example, Final Fantasy Tactics:War of the Lions has a bunch of cool items that can only be acquired in multi-player. This is a turn off for some gamers as FF Tactics(and strategy rpgs in general)are really all about the single player, plus the multi-player aspect in War of the Lions is a bit annoying since it is ad hoc only(you can't play with people online). Someone has created an editor with the use of CFW that lets you modify the game's saves. I was able to download a save file created with that editor that has all the multi-player items allowing me to enjoy the game without ever having to touch the multi-player component.

There's probably other people who can tell you more about CFW, but it's one of the things people love the most about the PSP. I don't think you miss out on anything by nothing getting official Sony updates as those things are usually accounted for in new CFW updates.

Getting CFW on your PSP will depend on which model you have(the 2000 seems the easiest to work with while people are still trying to figure out how to do it on the 3000 model). Basically, it involves getting something called a pandora battery and downloading a few things online. It seems pretty simple, I still need to get a Pandora battery myself so I can start playing around with CFW
