New Strider Game is Here!

Is anyone else excited about this new Strider game? After nearly a decade and a hlaf of hibernation, Hiryu is back and ready to kick ass! Judging from the Steam trailer, it looks like this will build upon the mechanics of Strider 2. Hiryu appears to have numerous attacks and acrobatics available to dismember people with. If I can be frank for a moment, I'm kind of disappointed this is a 2D game. Those rumors from years ago of a Devil May Cry styled Strider sounded very promising. Oh well, at least this Strider looks like it'll have the style of Devil May Cry in 2D form.

Strider 2014 is going to be released on pretty much all of the relevant gaming platforms (X360,XBOne, PS3/4, and PC) so I'm guessing that Capcom are hedging their bets with this one. I'm a bit concerned that this might lead to a self-cannibalizing of sorts. I've been meaning to post about this for a while but I've been a lazy ass.

I'm excited about this game....but then Double Helix developed it. I don't know what to expect.

If that's true then I'll pass on it. The Strider series are side scrolling action platformers, not hack n slash, beat 'em up style games.

If they can build on the GOOD Strider 2 I'll be happy. Talking bout this one:



A 3D Strider could be interesting though, but if that ever happened a Devil May Cry clone is the LAST thing I'd want. God, we have enough of those as it is. I'm sick of the game industry rehashing anything that becomes popular over and over again until you get sick of it

A Stryder hack and slash could be really fun if they still had a good emphasis on agility and incorporate his ball turrets. Tbh, I never liked the original Strider games much.

Sweet! I've played through Moon Diver more than a few times with my friends and I'm itching for another Strider. I'll definitely get it.

Yeah I've heard bad things about Double Helix games. I don't have any opinion of them since I've not played anything of their work, but care to elaborate for those who are unfamiliar?

With that being said, while yes I loved Strider back in the day, I'll hold my decision until I see reviews. Like I mentioned I've heard back things about Double Helix...

(I also did hear that some versions will include the original Strider 1 and 2).
