Does anyone know of a reputable SNES modding service?

Post by foxhound1022 »

I was thinking about getting an extra SNES I have modded for component output, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any well established sites, stores, or individuals who could perform this service.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm not sure. I don't think that's one of the services he offers.

I can't find any clear information on the component mod so I don't do them (for now anyway). Another problem is that a lot of HDTVs don't accept 240p over component and that rules out the SNES. Have you looked into using an RGB to component converter instead?

Well, I have a HDCRT that has multiple component inputs, IDK if that matters or not.

Plus, I'm not a huge fan of converter boxes and such; I want it to be just a direct connection.

I tried to search for some sources as well, and couldn't really get a definitive answer.

hmmm is that why when I try to play a PS1 game on my PS2 on my HDTV via component it says Signal not supported?

That's right. The PS3 is a much better choice for playing PS1 stuff, and PS1 games look great through HDMI too.

This is relevant to my interests too. I've debated just randomly messaging Jamisonia since he seemed to be one of the ones posting the most in the original "So SNES can do YPbPr" thread, but I dunno if he takes commissions. If Apollo's out, I dunno any other wunderkinds... maybe jinn?

If you figure out someone to do it for you, let me know cuz I have a pile of SNESes sitting around, one of them deserves to be YPbPr...

I highly recommend forgetting about the SNES component mod.

After spending a considerable amount of time and money trying to get it right, I decided to abandoned it. No one has offered a solution that is *perfect* and it will likely remain that way forever.

I can only recommend trying to use YPbPr only if your TV doesn't have S-Video inputs. If not, I still recommend NOT using this YPbPr mod. Instead, use some external solution like an RGB to YPbPr transcoder.
