Ah okay.

Well, yeah, it is punishing. I like to think of it like R-Type. The developers want you to successfully perform the challenges they put in front of you, instead of being able to get away with a mistake by passing through a mountain or something.

And, honestly, with the way the stages were designed, you are supposed to be on a route. If you run into a wall and flash for a couple seconds before you are vulnerable again... you are very likely going to immediately die anyways, which could lead to an even more frustrating experience.

To me, it would be like getting caught behind a wall in a scrolling Mario stage, only to lose a Mushroom and pass right through it. That, imo, would not only be hand-holding, but it would be poor design.

DKC never leaves you thinking, "Hmm, I managed to get through that somehow, but I wonder if its even possible to do perfectly?".

I know right? I've actually just been playing all my PS2 games on PC these days. Don't even have a PS2 hooked up right now even though I own two of them.

It's Tales of Rebirth.

And yeah, emulation is great for imports. Don't have to mod my console this way.

Not to mention the fact that Logitech PC controllers are designed very much like PS2 controllers.

I'm starting to play DKCR too, on 3DS. One thing that's really throwing me off on the controls is the way you float when you hold down the jump button with Diddy on your back; it messes up the entire jumping higher off enemies move, because you have to hold down the jump button for that, too.

Don't hold to jump off enemies. Just press the jump button again as you bounce off them. I also had trouble with this until I discovered the true method of jumping.

Well I've discovered PS2 emulation..... It's amazing.

I'll be playing all my 3D PS2 games on PC once I build a nice one. It's hard to go back once you've seen Valkyrie Profile 2 in genuine 1080p.

Any one knows how long the VC channel on the Wii will be around? It was a very important reason why I got my Wii in the first place but I thought they will keep it working forever.

How well does it work? What are the specs. of your PC? Is it flawless? Did you try it using a ps3 controller?

I never owned a PS2 and I do not have a place for it but this could work for me.

Back your stuff up to SD card. If necessary, find places that you can find backups to download. Sadly, when it's gone, piracy will be your only way to get it I think. The good news is, soft modding a Wii is trivial.

But I don't think they've said anything about discontinuing it any time soon.
