RPGs.. best one I've ever played and hated the most (not really hated.. just the Japanese pulled one of their classics with.. all the heroes die at the end or the ones you didn't expect) was Phantasy Star II. They (the programmers) should have been shot when the earthlings wipe out your party in the end. I remember the first time I played PSII. That was one of the very first RPGs that you could actually walk behind buildings and trees. How forking annoying was it that you were always never able to really explore something besides the hidden path through the fixed background. Oh.. btw, Ramatut4001, don't forget that the destroyed village/town has a hidden wall you can pass through. I know several of the Ultimas were pretty good at false walls (like Exodus for the NES) but just really being able to walk behind it was something cool. I guess at this point, I get labeled as a nutcase.
Yeah.. I played D&D. Loved pouring over the manuals and rules. Have a noteworthy library and have seen the Dragon Lance animated series they've just released. I have several modules and have kept up with it until they released 3.0 with the Sorcery class which is a rip on typical spell casters. The necromancers of games today don't hold a candle to some of the good modules from version 1 and 2.. even some of the 3. I was into it when it was "evil" and people drove off into the woods and committed suicide because their pen and paper persona was eliminated in the game. Oh.. the stories I could tell about some DM's and their sick sense of humor. Speaking of which that reminds me of a certain player that always ran around creating trouble for the other pen and paper players. So the DM sends a "hit man" mark after the in-game character. After a well fought battle.. the player was seriously injured but survived. The DM, ever vindictive, had as a last act of dice throwing.. chop off a certain part of male anatomy by the monster assassin. The obnoxious player went on an in-game quest to get back what was his.. "standard" per se. After a few weeks of pen a paper play, the player gets an artifact that can grant Wish spells. Anyone that knows anything about D&D, AD&D or good mudds.. know that you *very* carefully use artifacts.. and of course think out the best way to word a "Wish." I think most Mudds have something like The Wand of Wonders (or Wand of Many Things) that does random dangerous stuff. Always keep a pet on any Mudd you play.. and make sure they drink the water first.
Hope the 1 foot part doesn't violate forum rules. I can remove (or don't mind it being removed).
