I prefer to have non-GH label but if it's a rareish game that I find then I'll snag it if it's a Greatest Hits version. It's how I scored my copy of FFVII. I mostly try to keep to my rule when it involved cornerstone game series in my collection. An example would be my Sonic collection - as I get boxed copies, I'd try to avoid the Greatest Hits copies (also try to avoid the 'NOT FOR RESALE' copies.)
Systems Owned: NES, Sega Genesis (Non-TMSS), Game Boy, Game Gear, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis (Model 2), PlayStation, N64, Sega Dreamcast, GBA SP, Xbox, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 3, PSP, Nintendo 3DS

Why? Those are the rarest.

I was talking about my Sonic collection. I'd prefer the non-NOT FOR RESALE ones over the pack in copies. If I found a copy of OoT or Majora's Mask and it was a NOT FOR RESALE one then I'd scoop it up

I collect sealed games, so yes....I try to go for the black labels for games I plan on keeping sealed. There are a few exceptions to this rule of course, as I don't feel like paying through the nose for a FF VII copy black label sealed.

For games I plan on playing, then no I don't mind.

Hopefully you buy two and open one at least to experience the game. Ironic if decades later when impossible to find, you discover that sealed game to be defective. :?

when it comes to most games I normally dont care. but when it comes to games im planning to keep for a while or even collect (whether valuable or not) I try to get both GH and Black label. The reason I do that so the BL stays on the shelf and the GH gets used whenever needed.

Oh yes, of course. I only buy my favorite games (i.e. already played) sealed.

Of course, there may be a few that are sealed that I haven't played...but that's only because I have had time to get to it yet

Prefer original versions.

A couple things bother me about most variations of "greatest hits", the color chosen is usually hideous when combined with the original system palette (it's even worse in European territories), they can get ad happy when a game has sold enough to be released as part of greatest hits (e.g. Heavy Rain). Though, my biggest annoyance is with PlayStation 1 games. They completely remove disc artwork for a generic black lettering and maybe a logo. It feels like it's just cutting costs and saying "it's good, so who cares".

The thing that bothers me the most about greatest hits games ... is when GameStop employees put them in NON-greatest hits cases I handed them, forcing me to ask them to replace it and then giving me sour looks as a result. It's just not fun.

I guess, the reasons I don't like Greatest Hits and all redesigned-because-we-sold-a-bunch-but-it-actually-makes-it-look-cheaper versions can be summed up in these images ... spoiler for size:

What was your rating again? I didn't catch it. (rare case where the GH cover actually looks better)

You're right! Those metallic rings will make me purchase this faster.

Contrast is good?

I got a question to ask. Did anyone care about the so called greatest hits versions of snes, nes, n64, or even genesis carts? Didn't nintendo do the players choice type selections with a gold emblem and the genesis i remember had the red cases for sonic and colums and a few others? I do know that seeing the metroid yellow label sure in Hell beats that silver pixel one they originally came out with.

I do, and I will not keep a "Player's Choice" or "Mega Hits" game. The NES label variants are great, however, and I have most of those in my collection.
