Never been able to get into lock-on games and i'm not feeling it this time either. This is the best I can do after 90 minutes and I doubt i'll play again, so this will have to do.

Starting next month, I'm gonna lay all this crap to rest. I'll find out everything about autofire, defaults, and versions so we won't have to dedicate 5 pages to talk about it.

Please. It's much easier to participate when versions/settings are laid out in the first post. It's no fun reading 3 pages to see what difficulty to set the game on.

This looks like a fun game. I bought the US saturn version years ago and never really played it. Just hooked my saturn up to a tate'd monitor, so I'll give this some runs

So, how poorly am I performing, i.e. is 300k on the final boss of Area 2 OK? At the end of Area 1, I get between 180k and 225k. I love playing this game for survival, but I would like to improve my score as well.



Edit: Got to 347k on the second boss again before dying. Handed my phone to my wife to pull up the camera while I input my initials, but something was lost in translation, as she just smiled gleefully at getting a turn, so I don't know exactly what it was. Same point applies, though. Is 347k dying on the 2nd boss a decent enough score? You guys are getting 700/800k on level 3/4...

You're not off the mark. My end score for Stage 1 is between 220-250k.

Alright, cool. My last run was 222k at the end of Area 1, so I'm on the lower end of your score, but not terrible, apparently!

No, not bad at all. I don't think there's a lot of room to improve the score on the 1st stage.

In later areas, the one trick is to try and down multiple enemies w/lock-on. Not only will it give you more points, but it also keeps down the number of enemies that can attack you.

I think I've had 500k before reaching the Stage 2 boss and over 600k after killing it. Looking at some replays, though, it should be possible to have almost 1 million by the end of Stage 2...

You're playing on MAME, though. Arcade scores seem higher for whatever reason than Saturn scores. There's no way I could do 1 Mill at the end of Area 2, though 500k seems plausible if I stop dying in-stage.

Ah, that might be the case. After searching for other clips, I found a video of a 1CC run of Layer Section where he has 570k at the end of Stage 2.
