The special worlds are where its at in that game. (Seriusly, they are way better than the first half, which - IMO - is entirely too easy.) Enjoy!
This. Big Time.

Considering you are about 50% through when you finish the first 8 worlds.

Similar to 3D World, they are almost 'fake' endings.

Rayman Origins - I did not 100% this game. I typically do not 100% any game as I do not have the time to do every little thing nor the patience.

As for the game, started out pretty easy and ramped up some. In later levels the platforming seemed a little off. Sometimes luck played too much of a role in landing Rayman just right. Other than that I really enjoyed it and heck giant booby girls, you just cannot go wrong. The soundtrack was cool also. I normally turn music down on my games but I left this up.

Not worth full price but if you get it for 20 or under you will be happy you did.

1. Kirby's Epic Yarn Wii
2. To The Moon Christmas Special PC
3. Super Mario 3D World Wii U
4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Wii U *NEW*
5. Chiki Chiki Boys Mega Drive *NEW*

2 more games on the list, and I absolutely adored both of them.

Wind Waker HD
I've beaten Wind Waker previously on Gamecube, but going back to it 12(!) years later, it's as great as it's ever been. The music is wonderful, the art style is amazing, the game feels epic. The graphics look awesome this HD rerelease, and widescreen support is nice. Using the gamepad speeds up menus and stuff, which is nice.

The best thing about the HD remake though is the little changes that have been made to streamline the game - being able to sail at double speed without needing to change the wind, not having to go foraging for all the triforce charts, and my personal favourite - being able to take 12 photographs at once, being able to see if they're usable for figurines as soon as you take them, and have multiple figurines made out of them at a time without having to play the skip time song twice between each one.

All this streamlining encouraged me to do what I've never done before - complete the game 100%. I filled in the whole sea chart, found every treasure chart, salvaged every treasure, got all the upgrades, all the heart pieces, did every sidequest - including all the figurines, fought every big octo, raided every submarine and platform on the ocean and did everything there is to do on every island in the game. And I had an absolute blast doing it.

I also played the game on Hero mode, which meant that the game actually had a little bit of challenge to it. Unfortunately, it's a little unbalanced as it's harder near the start where a few good hits from a boss can kill you easily, but later on when you have more hearts and several bottles to hold fairies and potions, it's not really an issue. Still, it's nice the option was there from the outset. This is still up there in amongst my favourite Zelda games, and amongst my favourite games of all time. I love it.

Chiki Chiki Boys
Chiki Chiki Boys is a short, and relatively easy game that I enjoyed every second of. It looks and plays a little like a combat focused arcade Wonder Boy game. The music is upbeat and catchy, the graphics are colourful and charming, if not amazingly impressive, the gameplay is amazingly simple but incredibly fun, and there's enough going on to keep you on your toes. I was actually pretty impressed with the amount of enemies, coins, power ups and stuff on screen at some points.

The shop system is nice, but perhaps a little underutilised - buying upgrades is nice, but trying to max out would probably require some tedious grinding, so I personally just upgraded to the 3rd level sword and shield. Buying lives in the shop is nice, and it adds some challenge to the game that you can only have 1 extra life at a time - die twice in a level and it's game over. That can be frustrating (my first attempt at the game I died within one hit of killing a boss on the 2nd last level of the game), but it ultimately benefits the game as it's easy enough as it is anyway.

I'm pretty sure I got the 'good' ending of the game, as I found a key and a secret treasure chest at the end that made some stuff happen. I'll probably go back sometime to see if not getting said chest makes the ending differ much.

The game also has 2 player mode, so I look forward to playing through it with a friend sometime soon too. This game probably would have been way more popular if it wasn't for it's atrocious name imo.

Next up:
I'm working through Professor Layton & The Azran Legacy alongside some Metal Gear games for Together Retro. I'd imagine those will be next. I have just bought World of Illusion too though and it seems short and easy enough, so maybe I'll blast through that sometime soon too.

1-Metroid Confrontation
2-Red Dead Redemption
3-Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Well a good start for this year i think.

Metroid Confrontation

A nice very short fan made metroid game, made by the same guy who is making a remake of metroid 2. You can beat this in like 40 minutes and do 100%, it include 3 classic bosses (you know who).

Red Dead Redemption

Well when i though i was gettin tired of the GTA formula, i was able to varely paly GTA 4, i try this game and i was blown away. This is one of those games that you dream of but think that it will never happen i was hoping for a game like since i played GUN (awesome check it out) on the PC a few years back, after finishing that game i wanted more, i wanted more WANTED signs, more weapons, more horses, more room to explore, more EVERYTHING and RDR does all of that and i think even more.

It's basically GTA with horses, but the atmosphere and the great history make's this game better than the recent GTA's i have played.

Undead Nightmare

Well it got his own disc so i counting this one as a separate game

It's RDR... with zombies... and zombie dogs... and zombie horses... and zombie bears... eveything is undead in here!
I think i might like this one more than the original? But jut because of alll the nonsense and the ridiculous moments in the game, you can ride the horses of APOCALIPSE and yeah it is as badass as its sounds. I tought that this one was going to be a lame cash in for the zombie genre but it was really cool and has so many rockstar stuff in it... i mean finally you can caught the glorious big foot! (there's even a trophy after that).

So yeah buy the GOTY version, you wont regret it.

I'm going to see if i can try Red Dead Revolver on the PS2 this year.

You know, when I played and completed GUN, I thought hey, I bet that RDR plays nearly the same. It sounds like I was right  It was surprisingly good.

1. Dead Space 3* + Awakened (PS3)
2. Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD (WiiU)
3. Super Metroid* (WiiU)
4. Binary Domain (PS3)
5. New Super Mario Bros U (WiiU)

* = replay

Binary Domain
- Stereotypes the 3rd Person Robot Cover Shooter. This game was awesome and really fun. From the Yakuza devs apparently (have yet to hit those up). You can tell the budget wasn't AAA stuff, almost looked and felt like a lost PS2 game at times, but I kind of saw some charm in that. The robot enemies make hit detection important in this one, so it's not just spraying bullets. The squad "trust" mechanic was pretty cool, not utilized to any crazy degree...but yeah.

Overall this felt like Vanquish Lite. Not as much polish, but arguably more interesting characters and main story, left completely open though and doesn't sound like we'll get a sequel.

New Super Mario Bros U - Not bad at all, I liked it way more than the Wii game. But for whatever reason these "New" games just don't do much for me after awhile. I feel like they're a weird blend of the older stuff... but almost without their own identity or something. Graphically, SMB3 and SMW are worlds apart and different, but still Mario, and I like that. Here, I just don't know. It's almost like the New games are a bit more SMB1 in design than anything. I just don't think these ever turn out as good as SMB3, SMW 1-2, etc.

The music didn't stand out too much and the ghost levels were pretty annoying.

I wonder what I'll think of Donkey Kong Country Returns in comparison. I know I'm stoked for Tropical Freeze.

Overall good stuff, but 3D World is on a completely different level for sure.

I know there's the Doki thing with SMB2, but I can say both this and 3D World let me down with the lack of Shy-Guy's, haha I miss those guys.

1. 1942 (PS3 - Capcom Arcade Cabinet)
A checkpoint based shmup. Even with credit feeding there is a very satisfying level of challenge. While I was frustrated at times, likely due to my lack of experience in shmups, I overall enjoyed my time with this. Took me around 3 and a half hours too beat. Only one looping music track for 32 levels was a bit brutal though. Ended up turning my sound off and listening to podcasts while I played.

2. Avengers (PS3 - Capcom Arcade Cabinet)
An extremely easy game to clear, as when you game over you can continue right where you left off. I loved the visual style, but it just didn't really seem like I accomplished anything.

3. 1943: The Battle of Midway (PS3 - Capcom Arcade Cabinet)
This was a big disappointment after 1942. Yes the music is better, yes the graphics are better, yes the power ups are better. But when you die the game keeps scrolling up completely removing what was so satisfying about 1942's checkpoint system.

4. Legendary Wings (PS3 - Capcom Arcade Cabinet)
I've always had a soft spot for the NES version of this (despite never getting past the first level), and always wanted to try the original Arcade version. Its actually what prompted me to buy this collection in the first place.

Its pretty much what I expected. I still love the aesthetic of the game. Gameplay is only alright, but I still like it.

5. Resistance 2 (PS3)
I beat the original Resistance way back when I got my PS3 in 09. I hated it. I felt the game dragged on too long, that it looked ugly and didn't provide very interesting combat encounters. It did however use a weapon wheel which was very nice, and the story was interesting enough for me too see it through to the end.

Resistance 2 made some things better, made some worse. The game looks way better, environments are more colourful and detailed. Combat encounters had more variety. But the game got rid of the weapon wheel for a two weapon limit, which sucks. As well, the story is a lot more confusing as they fall to explain several key points unless you happen to find and then read the various intel documents.

I do have to give it credit for doing something not many games do. This is an end game plot spoiler for those who might still play it:
They kill off the main character you have played as in both games.
Overall I had more fun with number 2 then I did the original, but I wouldn't say either are great, or even good.

6. Resistance 3 (PS3)
Resistance 3 I feel is actually a good game. Unlike the previous two. It still suffers from the lack of explanations unless you read the intel, but too a lesser extent then the previous game. Visually, this is the best game, it was fun just to look around at the world I was in. The weapon returns, and all the weapons in the game are fun too use. Combat is way more varied then it was in the last two games because not only did they add new types of enemies, but they increase the number of ways you can encounter enemies in the game.

Its still not the best game ever, but its worth a play through if your interested.
If you are only gonna play one Resistance game, play this one.

February

7. Hyper Dyne Side Arms (PS3 - Capcom Arcade Cabinet)
Another game where it puts you back right too where you died, like 1943, making it easy as all hell too beat. Unlike 1943, I found the shooting mechanics to be much more fun, and when in 1943 I didn't care if I died, I wanted to actively avoid it in this game.

I can see myself playing this one again, maybe getting good enough too 1CC it one day.

1. Blood II: The Nightmare Levels (PC)(FPS)
2. Metal Slug (MVS)(Run and Gun)
3. Clive Barker's Undying (PC)(FPS)
4. Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death (PC)(FPS)
5. Lagoon (SNES)(RPG)
6. Tin Star (SNES)(Light Gun)
7. Cacoma Knight in Bizyland (SNES)(Puzzle)
8. World Heroes (MVS)(Fighting)
9. Mario's Early Years: Preschool Fun (SNES)(Edutainment)
10. Rival Turf! (SNES)(Beat 'Em Up)
11. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Genesis)(Fighting)

So my birthday is in February, and my roommate bought me a Sega Genesis. He also bought me Mighty Morphin Power Rangers because he enjoyed it as a kid and knew I had the MMPR fighting game on the SNES, so I could compare the two. So I just sat down and beat it. I don't think it's as great as he does(after all, I think the SNES MMPR fighting game is superb. This one...not as much), but I was surprised by what I did like about it.

First, there are only five true fights in the game, but each one is divided into two sections: one as the individual ranger fighting in their normal size, and the second as a Zord fighting a giant version. This is the format for nearly every fight, excepting the final one. I thought this was a great concept, and while once again we saw a repetition of stage designs(this time for the human vs monster stages on a bridge, as opposed to all of the Zords in Zordon's lair), the stage designs are varied and enjoyable.

Second, I like that the Green Ranger starts as a villain but then becomes a playable character upon defeat, and players have the option of choosing any of the rangers at the start of each fight. Also, once he joins, the Green Ranger also appears in the Continue screen, which is a nice touch.

Third, the focus of the game is more on multiplayer, where all 5 original rangers and the green ranger are playable, along with the two zords and four monsters, though the rangers cannot fight against the zords or Cyclopses, the giant final boss. The evil version of the green ranger can also be unlocked via a cheat code, adding one more to the roster.

And fourth, I rarely get to play a two-button fighter, and even though it took some getting used to, I enjoyed the controls once I started getting the hang of them. I prefer playing as the green ranger to the others, though I suppose that could change as I learn more about the various special moves.

Sure, there are better fighting games out there, and in my opinion the SNES game Might Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition is still superior, but I liked Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and will likely plug in a second controller and have the occasional bought with my roommate.

Sol-Feace - X68000
I played this just to see what it was like compared to the Genesis version (Sol-Deace) I've previously played when suddenly I got to the fourth stage. When I got to it I hooked up a controller (was previously using the keyboard) and went on to beat the rest of the game. If you want, you can consider this a game tentatively beaten since I used save states on the last stage. The game gives you unlimited continues until the final stage. If you get a game over on the final stage, your sent back to the fifth stage when you continue. That's a real dick move, so I decided to save state at the beginning of the sixth stage.

Hmm, I think I might need to go back through the thread and make a list of games I've beaten.
